There's a surprise!

Jon:  it will.  I felt that I needed to flag up the error in the more appropriate context first.  I've been saving them up...

This feels like it needs to go to the grammar section someone (SC?) recently started!

 Is that the grandma section?

From the BBC:

Jakub Mensik, who beat Andy Murray in the second round, produced an even greater upset by knocking out world number five Andrey Rublev 6-4 7-6 (8-6) in the Qatar Open quarter-finals

Top draw? Not yet, but it may be in his future!

Makes me feel better about Andys loss. Get that silverware out and polished for Mensik, then.

Elgan Alderman's report on the match in yesterday's Times which also discusses the implications of the defeat for Andy's continued presence on the Tour.  The tone is markedly different from that evident in his report on the Müller match which revealed that Andy was apparently playing with a burst cyst in his hip!

The statement (if correct) "This games not for me any more", Andy Murray tells coach in Qatar exit is interesting and suggests he must be up and down in his emotions and feelings right now.

Also, who is Elgan Alderman - is Stuart Fraser still the Times main reporter?

Pass!  Completely new name (& a pretty weird one!) on me.  As far as I'm aware, Stuart Fraser is still very much the paper's tennis "correspondent".

Maybe Fraser is just having a couple of weeks off post Australia and pre IW/Miami, I guess they all have leave!!! And post Mike Dickson passing, which must have hit his tennis journalist colleagues hard as well.
