Week 7 - ATP Challenger 50 - Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Will be interested to hear scottie's take

It looked some super tennis out there from young Charlie

Although the Polish guy did look well p*ssed off with the whole thing and having a bit of a sulk too

Charlie has always seemed SO slight and small for his age (as he did there, the Polish guy was twice his size, which - presumably - was partly why he was in such a funk)

But beautiful timing and arm acceleration

Saw most of the Charlie match he has a great backhand and his ground strokes are mostly sound although in first set some were awry. Charlie's serve is not very powerful but accurate. The polish guy big serve either winners or very loos e Charlie didnt play a good tiebreak was 1-5 got it back and if I remember had set point. Polish guy was very hissy lost the tight second set after being 2-4 up. I was impressed by Charlie's movement however he is not the biggest kid and should in time be more bulked up.
Polish guy seemed to lack mobility in last set .Good win for Charlie though and ranking points,I thought he was already ranked because he qualified for ITF Glasgow 25K but maybe no points for qualifying for ITF main draw?

Thanks scottie, really good to get first hand reports.

Yes, there are no ATP ranking points for qualifying for ITF M25s or M15 MDs. 3 points now for qualifying here.

Good stuff. Our qualifiers look to have fared rather better in the draw than our WCs.
