Am wondering how many people were inspired to vote for Heather after this week? #recencybias
Possibly, though actually I take it as voting for my favourite player just now, as opposed to over the last year or two or last decade...
This is my feeling too, but there is variability in "just now" - based on the last fortnight, I would have voted for Ms Watson too, but over the last year I think that Ms Boulter was my favourite in more weeks than Ms Watson.
... but over the last three years it would likely be Mr Evans, and over the last ten - fifteen Mr Murray (A)
I wonder if this had taken place now, as opposed to a month or more ago, whether the outcome would have been different? Would Katie B's San Diego win have made a difference to the votes? Would Andy's announcements around retirement in the summer, or his subsequent efforts in Miami and injury have improved his support?
How much of our voting is linked to things that are happening now and which impact who we support as our "favourite" at any one time?!
It was February when we had this vote in 2024, so my plan is to do a similar vote in 2025, probably also in the February time frame , once the Aussie Open is done and dusted. Lets see whats changed - I suspect quite a lot!
It quite surprised me to recall Heather was the favourite player of this board 9 months ago!
I think Heather has always been one of our most likeable players, whether she's getting good results or not. While the vote was just after she'd had a good run, I think a lot of us were reminded of how much we've enjoyed seeing her lovely smile and enthusiasm over the years, the way shefights even when things aren't going well, and that when she's on form, she's a lot of fun to watch.

I wonder if Andy would have won if people had known he would definitely retire later in the year. Of course, Andy wont be in this coming years (2025) event; and it will be interesting to see if anyone doing well at the Aus Open carries that over into doing this vote in February?
