Week 6 - ATP Challenger 75 - Nottingham, Great Britain (indoor hard) - singles

Paul will remain for now just outside the top 500 and just ahead of Hamish who will go top 500 with a QF win.

Live #500 81 points

Live #502, GB #22 Paul 80 points
Live #504, GB #23 Hamish 79 points ( would go to 89 points with a QF win )

Impressive for Hamish. Still keen to see Paul rise but it feels like he will have a peak (top 200-250?) lower than Hamish

Paul has a CH 196 from September 2022, from having had a CH 335 gping into 2022.

Having risen so impressively, he clearly dropped right down the rankings with missing so much of 2023 and is beginning to work his way back. But I see no longer term reason why he can't get back to his CH and a fair bit further into the top 200.

I've no feel yet for how high Hamish might get to, but hopefully also at least into the top 200.

I think probably top 200 for Paul, just depends if he can achieve the heights of a couple of years back. Once he breaks into challengers regularly, we should see. Losing to Hamish was a disappointment for him , Im sure.

Hamish feels like he has that game spark to be a bit higher , top 150, maybe 100? But who knows! Not me, my forecasting record in the rankings competition is terrible!

Hamish takes the opener off Paul. Feel like Hamish really can make waves - Davis cup 2027 - Draper, Fery, Fearnley and Stewart. Any takers?

Maybe add Searle into a 5 man squad ?

How about Cam and Dan?    I think Dan has quite a few years left at a good level.

Ha. I realise you are but you were taking Cam and Dan out of the equation by 2027.

Actually, Cam no, but not sure Dan will be at that level in 4 more seasons, who knows? What is Dan now, 33/4? Hed be 37? Touch and go! maybe he will be our top doubles star then?

Perricard has beaten Ryan and now Hamish. Wish he'd have a heart....

Yes, as discussed earlier, Perricard is a very good young player on the rise. Very encouraging week from Hamish.

And he went on to win the title, beating Martineau by 7-6(2) 6-4.  One to watch, it would seem.

Mpetshi Perricard was one of the Roland Garros Class of 2021 when 4 French players reached the boys semifinals. Two others, Arthur Fils and Luca Van Assche, have made more spectacular progress, but good to see Giovanni starting to climb the ranks.
