I do think Harriet is more ultra dedicated than the others
I don't think this makes her more deserving though
From what I read and am told, Harriet goes to bed at 9 pm every night. She doesnt touch alcohol (except a sip.of fizz at xmas). She is 100% ultra committed. I don't think the other girls follow such a strict regime
But, again, this is simply a fact, it doesn't make her any more deserving, in my eyes

Thanks for all the interesting comments here. In my original post I hadn't intended to criticise other players or to suggest they worked less hard, I was just trying to say that Harriet is a great example of what can be achieved if you you are committed to playing regularly throughout the season. Emily A is another who has a full schedule and she too is rising up the rankings. When Sonay first appeared on the scene I thought she was brilliant and was looking forward to seeing her charge up the rankings, but I feel her progress has stalled because her schedule is so thin. This isn't intended as a criticism as I have no idea what the reasons are and they may be well justified, but I just feel if she could play more she'd be higher ranked. No offence is intended here as I still support all our ladies.
I was also a bit disappointed with the suggestion that Harriet is "fortunate" with her fitness. Whilst I know that some injuries are unlucky, there's also a lot you can do off court to minimise injury problems and maybe she has the right regime and lifestyle to minimise some of the problems which others suffer. Anyway, I hope we can all agree that Harriet has had a brilliant week here and we hope she can build on that as the season progresses.
Guaranteed Romanian finalist in the top half of the draw with Bogdan v. Cristian. Harriet to play either Errani or Ka. Pliskova in the other semi final. Semi final features 4 unseeded players. Such is the fall in Pliskova's ranking that was not seeded here. I remember when this tournament was held in October 2024 that HarryGem wrote that the opportunity was there for Jodie Burrage to win her first WTA singles title here. In the event she came to grief against Korpatsch in the 2nd round. However in reaching the semi final this is Harriet's best ever WTA singles tournament. It will be Harriet v. Pliskova who beat Errani easily.

Well let's hope Pliskova's serve is off tomorrow. She was only serving at 50% today, but won 20/22 when it went in. I saw Katie beat her at Wimbledon and that was one of those days when the percentage was low. I must admit though I'm surprised that Errani actually made it this far in the tournament so the score of 2 & 0 isn't really a shock.
(PS - a bit of clairvoyance there about the October 2024 tournament)
Scheduling is all a consequence of choosing to play Cristian's doubles SF yesterday instead of Harriet's. That meant Cristian had to play her singles QF in the day session, pushing Harriet's SF opponent to the evening session. As they wanted Bogdan to be the lead match in the evening session, that pushed Pliskova to be the last match which means she couldn't be scheduled first today.
Pliskova appears to be scheduled to play in Doha tomorrow v Kalinskaya. So she is either going to be desperate to wrap the match up quickly today but might make a lot of errors. Or maybe she is resigned to not making it to Doha and will be super-focussed on winning today. Which one, I wonder??
Pliskova eating up Harriet's second serves (and her first serve % is not great) and takes the first set 6-3.
Just looks a step too far for Harriet, but good to get experience again for her at the level she is capable of. An excellent weeks work and still the doubles to come.
