Week 5 - WTA500 - Upper Austria Ladies Linz - indoor hard

Really good to see Jodie not go into a complete meltdown after a frustrating point/game but refocus and get the win. More of that, please!

Katie is playing really well and dominating a top 30 player, who is known for her defensive skills.

OER are currently showing Katie up to 45 and Jodie up to 97 in live rankings - but there are players around them who have yet to play their first round matches, so might look different tomorrow night.

Didn't have much doubts about Katie today on this surface. Should suit her well and she just blasted through the Italian. Lovely stuff!

Yes, very good to see. Though to be fair to her, although the meltdowns still occur, for some time now they have more often than not not been complete meltdowns.

Over the last year or so, her record in third sets is so much better than it used to be. And getting these wins has been a great help in her surge up the rankings.

Still does probably cost her on occasions so I do hope her and her team keep working on her mentality in matches.

Such a shame that there are only two (yes only two) indoor hard court tournaments left in the calendar as I think it's a surface and conditions that suit our players.
