Another former hero of the sport getting herself in criminal trouble

Fraud conviction for concealing assets - sounds familiar - although this one linked to an initial tax fraud similar to those many footballers (Messi, Ronaldo, Mourinho) have been convicted for

No sympathy if she's knowingly done something wrong that is criminal.

 100%

She's basically a serial offender. Who threw her ex-husband under a bus.

Claiming she's a first time offender, in order to justify the suspended sentence, is ridiculous

Yes, technically, but - as per Reuters - it's all part of ongoing fraud:

"The case stems from her being ordered in 2009 by the Supreme Court to pay a 5.2 million euro fine for tax fraud over the 1989-2003 period, when she was resident in Spain rather than in Andorra, as she had said.
After the couple transferred their assets from Banque de Luxembourg, the Spanish state eventually collected the money from the bank through a guarantee agreement.

The bank accused the couple of never honouring their debt and concealing their assets. In a civil suit in 2014, a Spanish court ruled in favour of the bank but the money was never paid, and the bank resorted to the criminal courts."

Sad?

Or bad ?

I'm not 'sad' for her; she's got off incredibly lightly

It is one of the (many, many) things that confounds me - why people with more money than they could possibly spend will jump through ever-increasing hoops in order to avoid paying some or any of it to the State.

... and then they invariably claim that it was their husband's/ wife's/ accountants/ tea-lady's doing.

Im sad she did it

It is bad that she did it; Im not sad for her, as you she get off lightly and it is a big fraud.

Btw re grammar- I typed in apostrophes on both the Ims above (and have done it here) in my iPhone and when I post, it takes them out. Do other people find that happens?

This editor doesn't like "special characters" (eg apostrophes, smart quotes etc) and only plaintext pastes in properly every time whilst text copied from Word doesn't always (especially line spacing) - hence I often paste into Notepad and then copy again for posting. I would think it also applies to smart phones although I haven't noticed it on my (Android) tablet which I use sometimes on here.
And I abhor autocorrect (despite making plenty of typos) and turn it off wherever possible.
Re A S-V
Used to enjoy watching her play, but tax evasion on this scale is somewhere between arrogance and stupidity.

Yeah the special characters always drop off for me. I mostly post from a phone, have given up trying to get it to work.
