As usual Bolton hosts the traditional warm-up event before Les Petits As this week
Draws can be found on the Tennis Europe website Seeded Brits are Scott Watson (8) Eric Lorimer (11) Neo Armus (13) Niall Pickerd-Barua (9) and Samuel Fussell (16) in the boys event. In the girls event just Daisy Wootton (15) and Daniella Britton (10) are seeded.
Other Brits are in action today (seeds have byes) with early winners including Megan Knight. Live scoring is provided here.
Great to see Megan here, and getting a good win over Shao (who made the QFs of the U12 Junior Orange Bowl, although that's not as good as Megan, of course, who made the final, but Shao was top seed)
I can't see Megan's name on the entry list for les Petits As, so either she hasn't entered because she didn't want to, for some reason, or she wasn't highly enough ranked and so it wasn't worth it (or I've missed it )
Wil be interesting to see how Joyce Geng (CAN) does too; there's been a lot of talk about that girl
Dani Baranes obviously won the U12 Junior Orange Bowl so she must be one of the favourites (although still young for this category as are the other ones I've mentioned)
Megan continued today by handing out bakery products to the 7th seed while another member of the team reaching the European Summer Cup U12 finals, Liv Zingg, was able to edge out the 14th seed from Japan. In that final they lost out to Daniel Baranes' Israel, and she progressed in a tight match against Daisy Wootton. Joining Megan and Liv in the last 16 were Rosie Cho, Daniella Britton and wildcard Katie Randall.
The situation was less rosy with the boys, as just Niall Pickerd-Barua and wildcard Jan Janda reached round 3

Megan's ranking (only just out of under 12s) is not high enough to make qualifying. It was the same situation with Hannah K in 2021, but she was awarded a wildcard. I guess Megan's profile isn't quite as high to get one of the wildcards, though Daniel Baranes has one. There are only 3 maindraw and 2 qualifying wildcards currently showing though, so it is possible that she has been or could be offered a wildcard despite not entering.
Megan lost easily to a Brazilian qualifier but there were excellent wins for Liv (over the third seed) and Jan (over the second seed). Jan's win ensures a Brit in the semis as Niall beat an unseeded American. Liv now plays the Canadian CD highlighted
I hadn't heard of Jan either, but I notice that he won the National under 12 doubles title in 2022 and is one of the Tennis First grantees. He pushed Niall, but he is the last Brit standing, as Liv lost in 3 ending a very good week for her. Unusually Niall is the highest seed left at this stage in the boys draw (the other finalist will be one of two French boys)

Rather a beatdown for Niall today. The Australian has not been extended in any set so far this week, so looks to be one to keep an eye out for. The girls final is between the Brazilian who beat Megan and the Canadian who beat Liv
