Not certain who will be more pleased - Ella for avoidingthe #4 seeds or Lucia for the opportunity !

Or Eliz and Emma for a good chance of reaching the semis!

They have to get past Allegra and Hannah first - just started the MTB !

The bad news is that Beth and Katy now have to play each other. I suppose the good news is that one of them will definitely progress.

For best mates, they do seem to play each other enough

Good to see Katy has recovered from whatever the issue was last week

It does seem that they keep meeting, but the ITF says twice last year (One to Katy and one to Beth on a retirement) and one in 2014. Surprising that that is all.

No Korpanec Davies/Rylatt stream, thus preventing me from seeing if they can repeat their exploits from the previous round. What were they thinking!?

On another note, strangest odds of the week had to be Stresnakova as a 3/1 outsider against Stoiber, a clear case of the market overvaluing someone because of recent form.

Agree with comment about the odds. Stresnakova has better ranking and is one of those GB based  but non GB players who doesn't get benefit of WC so has built ranking often by getting through qualis etc. If she had had loads of WC like GB players, especially academy ones etc, I imagine her ranking would have improved more quickly and further. Although GB players like Ranah will be expected to further improve ranking it's true that the WC available (which to be fair she has often made good use of) do give this process a boost.

Beth has started well.
Good to see she is still continuing with her singles, she could easily have specialised and become a top 100 doubles player

Beth was serving for the match at 5-4 in the 2nd but couldn't quite get over the line. However it was a closer match than their meeting in Reims last October when Beth lost 2-6 6-7(5)
