British Tour 2024

This weekend is the big money TS Doubles champs. I see Jonny OMara is playing and is top seed. Hep also playing.

And Anna McBride, of this board, is also entered, good luck to her!

It was the final event of the British Tour regular season this week, a rare Grade 1.

Alexis Canter and Tegan Bush were the winners.

Alexis was top seed and came through the draw with a canter with only any real competition in R1 against Christian Doel.
Losing semi-finalists were Ferran Redza [7] and Alex Maggs [2]

F: Alexis Canter [1] d. Charlie Swaine [3] 6-0 6-1

The top 2 seeds in the women's draw were WCs, Alice Gillan [1] and Danielle Daley [2]
Losing semi-finalists were Sophya Devas [7] (who beat Alice in the QFs) and Amelie Brooks

F: Tegan Bush [5] d. Danielle Daley [2] 6-4 2-6 [10-7]

I imagine this will also be on iPlayer for anyone who wants to watch, but BBC Scotland will be televising the Tennis Scotland Open Tour Finals, which I think are part of the British Tour, or at least some events are?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/c3vlgpkgyn2o

I think these take place a few days before the LTA British Tour Finals, not sure if participation in either event is known yet, certainly Tennis Scotland looks like it will only be confirmed a few days before the event itself

Just looking at the TS Tour leaderboard, I noticed Anna McBride is in 8th place in the women's table and should have a place in the televised tour finals, if she takes it.

Anna has been followed in the Para tennis thread and her Dad provides regular updates for us around her progress - but getting to those finals is a real achievement and something she should be proud of - and we as a board that support her should feel proud for her and her family.

I think players have to accept their place, I hope she is able to do so.

The British Tour Masters takes place at Loughborough a few days before the TS equivalent, next week in fact

I notice James Mackinlay and Mia Wainwright are two players who are qualified for both events, if they take their places. The British Tour event winner takes home £3k, the TS Tour Finals winner takes home £2k, so playing both would be financially worthwhile - winning £5k in one week of play wouldn't be a bad target to aim for!

James Mackinley hasn't qualified for the BT Masters; he would be 2nd alternate should any two decline their places. Only the top 3 on the leaderboard get an invite, the rest go to British winners of the Premier events and last year's winner.

The BT Masters invites will have gone in the 1st instance to
Pheonix Weir, Ewen Lumsden, Harry Wendelken, Marcus Walters, Charlie Swaine, Dylan Davies and Ben Gusic-Wan, WC
Hep, Allegra Korpanec-Davies, Eliz Maloney, Ranah Stoiber, Mia Wainwright, Lois Newberry, Amelie Brooks, WC

Agh, forgot it wasnt just the top 8. Ewen Lumsden is also 9th in the TS event - is that the top 8 or a similarly complex qualification process? In which Anna might not get in?

The Tour Scotland Masters is simply the highest players on the leaderboard to have entered, although 2 wild cards for each draw may be awarded.

It's also a 16 draw for the TS Masters, so Anna is comfortably in.

Ok, thanks Lambda- so, assuming they enter, Ewen and Mia both have a shot at £5k from the two events?
