The Grade 1 Premier West Worthing event is playing this week

An interesting line-up in the women, youngsters, colleger players, WTA players etc

Alice Gillan is top seed, with Eliz Maloney second

Jaqui Ogunwale is third, and Given Roach is back, and 4th

Hep is also playing, and Sophie D-Lewis (and Alice Dudeney and Sally Pethbybridge)

2009-born Edie Griffiths beat Francesca Simpson

In the men, great to see Max Basing back on court

Harry Wendelken is 2nd seed, but the top seed has withdrawn

Neither Kyle nor Ben Jones are in the list

As usual the LTA site is slow to update.

Alice G and Alicia D both retired from their QF
Hep beat Eliz.
Other results still outstanding.

CD can look at the men wink

Yes, I'd looked at both 30 mins ago and thought I'd wait till the results actually get posted (just possible they're still playing)

Bit worrying they've had so many retirements (there's been some in men's too)

I don't really see why they're playing two matches in the same day

Sally Pethybridge beat Hep quite easily

Which is not what Hep would have wanted

But both Sally and Alicia D have excellent games for grass (shame Alicia was injured)

SO in the SFs, Sally plays Ruby Cooling

and Gabia plays Allegra K Davies

So that's one wildcard for the pre-qualis playoffs that's going to be to a rather 'unexpected' player.

The men's SFs sees:

James Story v Harry Wendelken (which is a particulalry strong semi)

and

Anthony Wright v Dan Little

Anthony Wright is a new name , to me at least. What sort of age is he?

Finals will be

Ladies: Allegra Korpanec-Davies vs Sally Pethybridge.

Gentlemen: Dan Little vs Harry Wendleken

As has been said, unexpected ladies result - I had thought SDL would breeze through this tournament...

Allegra is having a storming grass court season. If she can make it a hat trick of grass titles she'd be well deserving of the play-off WC. Not sure how many matches she played last week because of the incompetence of The Progress Tour to post any details, but that must be 12 or 13 matches she is now unbeaten on grass in the last 3 weeks.

Maybe I should be counting progress tour and British tour in my grass courts wins thread! Allegra would be leading by a mile!

Maybe she will be up there when she wins Pre-qualifying, then Qualifying and the main draw!!!

 Maybe she will biggrinbiggrin

She beat Sally P today, 7-6(6) 6-1

And so qualifies for the Wimbly wildcard playoffs

As does Harry Wendelken, 6-3 6-0

Which is less noteworthy as he'd probably have got in anyway
