RE: British Tour 2024

Connaught G2

Well done to Robert Beznea [6] and Lois Newberry for being this week's winners. The women were behind so had to play the QF as well as the scheduled SF and final today. Lois won her 3 matches with a match tie-break and spending almost 6 hours on court (if the times are accurate).

Robert Beznea [6] d. Roy Keegan [7] 7-5 1-0 ret.
Lois Newberry [1] (2007) d. Jaquelyn Ogunwale [3] 6-1 2-6 [10-8]

For those not in the W35 and men's ITF at Nottingham, there's a British Tour 2 there at the same time

An interesting draw, in terms of junior interest, for the girls, in particular

QFs:

Summer Yardley v Hollie Smart
Mia Wainwright v Amelie Brooks
Edie Griffiths v Tegan Bush
Lois Newberry v tbd

In the men, the top two seeds are Marcus Walters (WC) and Joe N-Billington

Ryan Peniston has turned up at the British Tour Grade 2 (!) event in North Oxford

Not often you see anyone in the top-1000 playing a G2 BT event, let alone someone who's close to the top-200

The second seed is Anthony Wright......

A few slight surprises in the men's R1 matches, as (q) Seth Briggs-Williams defeated the 8th seed, and Seb Harrison defeated Ilias Worthington (seeded 5) and Fred Barnet defeated the 6th seed, Glaysher

Pleased to see Charlie Swaine get a win

The women's R1 matches play tomorrow - lovely to see Sally Pethybridge back from USA duty and on GB grass again. Quite a strong group of youngsters playing too.

Ryan won his opening match against Freddie Ridout 2 and 2. Wasnt Ridout a promising junior a few years back?
