I was lucky enough to be at Loughborough today and saw Eliz's victory against Hep. It was a really good performance. From 4-1 down in the first she won 8 successive games by breaking Hep's rhythm with an array of drives, drop shots and excellent placements. She has certainly not had a good singles year and was affected by the untimely death of her long time coach Alan Jones. Eliz is now a full time student at Loughborough and is benefitting from the regime there. Her doubles form has remained good with two ITF titles although she needs to find a regular compatible partner. In recent weeks she won the BUCS doubles with Megan Davies and was part of the British Universities team who were runners up in Reims. Eliz relishes team play and has been an integral part of the Sutton team who have been National Team Tennis champions for the past three years. Hopefully today's win will be the precursor of better singles form in 2025.
Thank you for this insight. Hopefully in 2025 Eliz will show her potential.
Women's last 8 in the TS Open Tour Finals (being played later today)
Emma Wilson v Hanna Augustynska
Teodora Prisadnikova v Anna McKnight
Halle Pringle v Mia Wainwright
Lily Harper or Heather Barlow v Aimee Knowles (who "upset" 2nd seeded Fran Simpson, albeit Fran retired in the second set)
Just noticed, there is also a Premier level British TOur event in Loughborough starting Thursday of this week, and then a lower level (Grade 2) event, also at Loughborough, between Xmas and New Year.
Emma and Teadora had a very low-intensity error-strewn match today. Both played much better yesterday. It may not have been apparent, but I suspect Teodora had a shoulder issue that reduced her ability to hit and serve well. Resulting in a disjointed match. Teodora had the trainer on at the start of set 2 during her first match yesterday.

reflected in a 0 and 1 scoreline!
The other semi seemed equally one sided as Mia beat Aimee 2 and 0;
So the final is between Emma Wilson and Mia Wainwright
In the mens, it wasnt much closer, as Ewen Lumsden beat James Mackinlay 0 and 1 also.
So Ewen will play the winner of Hamish Stewart and Liam Hignett
Ladies final follows that remaining mens semi (presumably they are into a third set or certainly a closer match than all the other semis) and the mens final is after the ladies
Hamish won the other semi 3 and 4, so the mens final is Hamish Stewart v Ewen Lumsden
Two world ranked players - Hamish has won both their last two meetings in the past 12 months or so, but Ewen has had the more impressive/easier run to the final; could be close.
And congrats to Ewen Lumsden on winning the mens , 7-5 3-6 7-5 in what looks quite some battle. Ewen's title here follows being RU in the British Tour Masters last week, meaning he will have taken something like £3 or £4k from the two weeks.
Good effort and two good weeks for him - very good weeks
