 Thanks Var - such a shame. It clearly feels like this is the end of his Aussie career. He says he has a good idea when he would like to retire, but it depends on form, and that there is a "definite possibility" this was his last AO. 

He clearly would want to play grass and Wimbledon, that wont be in doubt? Olympics would depend on ranking clearly, so that could be something he would like to do but might not. US Open, I am sure ideally he would like to play and maybe he would like one last DC in September, again that would depend on form and ranking.

There is then no point in playing the post US Open events as they dont mean anything to him. It feels to me like US Open will be his swansong, unless he can force his way into the September Davis Cup team, which seems unlikely.

Sadly, it does feel like the end is coming very soon. A truly great career and single handedly changed the curse of British men at Wimbledon and in Grand Slams for the many decades preceding him. Also a great guy and a wonderful ambassador of the sport. He can be very proud of his career when he does stop playing. I just wish he had added maybe three more slams to his name so that he would be talked in the same breath as the big three (remember when it was the big four? ) But nonetheless in the era he played in he carved out a magnificent legacy for himself and British tennis

If Andy doesn't make the Olympic team, I can well see him bowing out at this year's Wimbledon.

Murray is currently 69th on rankings in the Olympic ranking cycle (Cam is 68th) so will need to perform well enough over the coming months. The ranking cut-off is 10 June.

FAA beat Thiem in near 5 hours last night, finished just before 2 am. First day finished at 1230am.

Good to see the AO strategy to minimise early morning finishes is working perfectly!

Good to see Jack come through in 5, from being 2 sets to 1 down and dominating 4 and 5. Looks like he was fit and thats a decent test.

I slept through unfortunately and only switched on after hed won. It looked has though he was really struggling to get off the court - did others notice that? Hope he is OK.

Although it was 5 sets it was actually a relatively quick 5 sets at 3 hrs 17 mins, for context Runes match was already longer than that by the middle of the 4th set.

 Ah, Ive just read the twitter feed. Poor Jack was vomiting straight after handshake (in rubbish bin) . Poor Jack, but well done. Winning the match and making it to the bin. Bless. Hope not heat stroke.

Re match with Tommy Paul next - then maybe Kecmanovic. Tough draw but he did beat Paul last week. Hope he recovers.
