I watched the match and in my opinion Sinner played superb in those first two sets.
Novak said afterwards that it was the worst he has ever played and that Sinner just managed to do better.
Seemed really wrong to me that he couldn't just acknowledge how superbly Sinner had played and taken him apart.
He had to make it sound more like he had lost it rather than Sinner winning it.
Really pleased for Sinner.
See, this is why I dislike Djokovic and Im thrilled he lost.
I hope this is the last year we will see him as hopefully someone will beat him at the French and then he will question his future. I think the olympics will be a big target for him but Id be delighted if he never won an Olympic gold.
He claims to be for his country but then withdrew from the mixed doubles in Tokyo following his singles loss. Very suspect.
Anyways, I dont mind who wins the final but Im hoping for a Sinner first win.
At 6-3, 5-1 down Sinner looked beaten, Medvedev could do no wrong, but then you saw something change out there, and although Medvedev did get over the line in set two 6-3 he was never as dominant again and it became more like the match we had been expecting from the start.
