Week 3 - Australian Open Grand Slam - Melbourne, Australia Hard

All things considered, those arent bad draws for a slam first round. All have a chance to win.

Some notable non GB draws include
Swiatek vs. Kenin
(Winner plays Collins or Kerber)
Rybakina vs. Pliskova
Osaka vs. Garcia

Just seen Emma Navarro is 27th seed! Saw her in the Ilkley final in June, lost to Bjorklund. Amazing season since.

Good draws. Time for Jodie to make amends for last time, hopefully!

Is Shelby Rogers playing off a PR ?
(Presumably or she wouldn't be there, unless it was a WC----train of thought----muttering to oneself-----)
I know she had knee surgery a while ago? Is that still the problem?

But, yes, that's a very accetpable set of draws

Shelby Rogers was also married recently. She hasn't played since Wimbledon and has lost her last 5 singles matches. Never won a WTA singles title.

Looks like bottom half (Jodie) playing Sunday/Monday, so Emma and Boulter probably on Tuesday.

Not a British player but courtesy of the wild card arrangements between  Australian Tennis and French tennis, Alize Cornet will be playing in 68th consecutive Grand Slam tournament starting at the 2007 Australian Open.

Yue Yuan has been in fine form in recent months winning 16 of her last 19 matches, including wins over Lily and Harriet. She is a semi finalist in Hobart having qualified. Perhaps she will be tired by the time she arrives in Melbourne.

Katies got a banana skin there. Yue has been going deep in WTA draws recently. Emma should win and Id say 50/50
for Jodie, although hope she can do it.

I think Katie is capable of stepping up at the big moments, and Alex will be there to support.  Hoping they might play mixed doubles together.
