Thanks all. We are having a great experience and are in the mix with the top players and coaches in the players lounge. We are not allowed to take pics in there for obvious reasons. A big perk is access to an unlimited food and drink budget in the players lounge. The quality is exceptional. It is a money can't buy experience. Anna has a doubles followed by a singles tomorrow afternoon. The doubles are always a good experience. Anna is partnered with her Global Games mixed doubles partner Dom.
Hi, Anna's back started with the spasms in her singles and had to retire. The whole three days she struggled with her back and getting rotation. The doubles yesterday was lost very closely 6-3 6-4, mostly due to lack of doubles practice, rotation/movement issues, a few too many unforced errors and about 8 sudden death deuces.
Today Anna had a heat patch, painkillers, adrenaline and just played full on despite the discomfort. Anna and her partner put a good show on and beat the world number 2 men's pairing 6-4 6-2 to get the runners up trophy. Anna even served an ace out wide on match point, 40-15. Sandy Procter said she did not realise Anna would play so well against the top men.
I see Anna is in the TS Doubles Champs this weekend. Hope she goes well! How do you feel about her draw? Top seeds in round 2?!
Thanks
It is a good experience to play in these events. There was meant to be qualifying, which would have given them three matches tomorrow. I felt they had a good chance of winning their group and qualifying, but too many teams pulled out late on. Leaving a much stronger main draw only starting on Saturday. The draw could have been kinder and Anna's partner is young, so they can just enjoy it with no pressure. It will be tough to win the first match. It is not easy to get quality doubles matches, so Anna will make the best of it.
Their first round opponents are very good. Karen used to play on the Tour a few years back and the younger Aadya is very good and improving faster than her ratings. Aadya plays with a massive amount of speed and intensity. Even if they get through that, the first seed opponents in the next round are another level altogether. Anna would love to play them just for the experience.
Anna and Eva had a very enjoyable and competitive close match, decided on sudden death points. Eva double faulted at 4-5 40-40, to lose set one. Karen held a sudden death deuce point, when serving for the match at 5-4 40-40. Karen's experience was the slight difference between them.

Glad to hear Anna and Eva enjoyed the match and it sounds like it was quite a battle. Sudden death points are so tough and really can be quite unpredictable.

Thanks, as always, for posting about Anna.
Thanks
A lot of the games went to sudden death deuce, which added to the stress/drama/enjoyment of watching/playing the match. Worse for the pair at the end of the losing point. We prefer proper deuces.
It was a the second longest of the first round matches and was worth the trip to Glasgow. There were lots of very good doubles to see on the many match courts.
Hi Anna's Dad - I was looking at the TS Tour Leaderboard as the BBC have said they are televising the finals, which is an 8 player event, I think? I hadnt noticed before but Anna is 8th in the standings and can or will qualify to play - brilliant, that appears to be?! Will she take up her place? Feels like a great opportunity and well done to her!!

Hi JonH,
Thanks
Yes, Anna wanted to play in that event, and she played and won matches in enough qualifying events to make it happen. It is a super strong event, so she will probably only have one match. But it is nice to qualify and compete in it. Qualifying is a good achievement on its own.
It is a 16-player event for men and women, with 15 qualifiers and one wild card in each.
The BBC will show highlights on day one and live action on day two. Day two will be very strong.
I'm looking forward to some good tennis.

Anna tweaked her shoulder in training last week, which affected her forehand and serves. She lost many service games from 40-15 up. The opponent played very well, was consistent and was hard to break down. The match lasted an hour and 30 minutes. BUt Anna went down 6-2 6-0.
There is some excellent tennis on show at this event, which is very high in quality.

Thats a shame but great experience to be able to play at this level - as you say, the top seed (Emma Wilson) is a world ranked ITF player and the overall level is strong - there is some decent money for the winners, so players will be motivated.
So what is next for Anna? Presumably the AO again, are they doing Anna's events this coming year and are you planning on going down there?
