I might get some stick for this but while I like to see Katie doing well, I just can't get behind her too much because of the amount of injuries and retirements.
Not stick. Just to me, strange? As far as I know Katie certainly wants it, works hard to be fit, and must be so frustrated.
I continue to so wish that her fortunes will change, that she will get a good run of fitness and matches, and yet get the opportunity to try and be all she can be.
I can understand where Blue Belle is coming from - trying not to get too excited about Katie playing because of the constant disappointments which come from supporting her. It is the same with Fran. It would be easier and less frustrating to concentrate on those who are not always being hit by injury.
Yes this. It's just you can't trust that she is going to do well consistently. It's amazing what she is able to do given how many injuries she has. She's basically a part time player. That as, I'm glad it's just being unwell rather than yet another injury.
With Fran it's a bit different because of her physical limitations she's already doing so well just being able to play professional tennis with less fingers and toes than she should have.
There's a lot about @BlueBelle's post I don't agree with. It's also getting into territory where I don't want to tread. What I will say is that Swan is a professional tennis player, who always arrives at tournaments in top physical condition, who plays as many tournaments as she is able, who represents the nation whenever called upon, who has improved her tennis game so much, who has built her physique to be able to compete with the best, who in so many matches has fought tooth and nail, never giving in, who has beaten many players ranked above her, and won many tournaments on the ITF tour. All of that comes from dedication to her tennis, and daily practise and training. It's not correct to label such a professional as a 'part-time player'.

No one is questioning Katie's professionalism or effort, simply pointing out her chronic injury problems have made it impossible for her to play a full schedule. It's particularly frustrating to see several players she has beaten in the past like Wang Xinyu, Yue Yuan, Katie Volynets, Paula Badosa and Leylah Fernandez (not to mention Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage) all go on to reach the Top 100 or better while Katie has been unable to fulfil her true potential.
