Week 2 - ITF W35 Loughborough, GB - Indoor Hard

Ciara unfortunately lost in a MTB

It's a very strange technique she has on her backhand; it's quite effective but I'm surprised her coach allows her to keep it like that, for a purist now would certainly be the time to try and change it

Q1: CASSIDY, Lucia (GBR) UNR =CH {17yo JCH=792} v BENAMAR, Schena (FRA) (13) 1163 (CH=1099)

Benamar seems to have pulled out

And Halle PRINGLE (GBR) UNR has got the play instead

Shame. Her opponent was playing the U18 Winter Nationals in the US only last week. Made the final. I'd hoped that Anna might be rather tired, what with that and the flight and everything. But seemingly not....

Very nice win by Ella over the German woman, ranked top-800

I do SO much prefer Ella's game when she goes to the net a bit

For a tall girl, with a good arm, she puts remarkably little on the ball from the back of the court - plays very much a percentage game - pushing right and left

And yet when she's in 'going to the net' mode, she puts a little bit more, has decent volleys and had a real smash practice session - where she held up very well

Nice win

Melosch is ITF 755, not WTA 755, so an expected win for Ella.

I'll post today's results and the final qualifying draw shortly - still four matches to complete.

It happens to us all !!  But Ella was seeded and Melosch wasn't, which is why I spotted it.

Thanks, now corrected.
