Lucy lost her singles and plays her doubles final tomorrow.
In Rome, Alfie beat Gordon 4 and 4 and now plays Gustavo Fernandez in the final. In doubles, Alfie and Gordon beat their Dutch opponents with a double bagel. They play Fernandez and de la puente in the final.
Dominant warm up for the French as Alfie wins the Italian championships singles 1 and 1 against world number 3, Gustavo Fernandez, and then the doubles with Gordon 1 and 4.
Alfie really coming into form - what we dont know is the form that Oda is in as he hasnt played clay this season. Maybe he will be in Barcelona next week?
The Barcelona Open is due to start today but the ITF pages dont have the draw, nor did the website when I last looked and the LTA pages dont seem to have anything about it - although I find the LTA site so hard to navigate and find stuff!
Its one of the last pre French warm up so imagine one or two Brits will be playing. The Open de Royan is also series 1 and starts on the 28th May and is the final warm up for RG.
Post this, its a funny old season.
The French Open is coming up second week of the two week slam.
Following that June and July include the Riviera Open (super series) in Nice (clay and possibly a bigger event than the other super series events)
Then we go grass with the series 2 Rothesay Eastbourne Intl, then the series 1 Lexus British Open at Roehampton (bank of England venue) and then Wimbledon
Post Wimbledon its all eyes on the Paralympics in Paris which is August. Because of the Paralympics, there arent any other bigger events and the US Open is completely cancelled due to Paris. Post Paralympics, there dont appear to be any other big events scheduled until the NEC Wheelchair Masters which is taking place in mid November in the Netherlands.
They may schedule more later but for now , the season sort of runs out at end of of August.
In essence, two more slams to come this season, 1 super series event in France, the paralympics and the wheelchair masters. Most of the big action left will be in France!

Just a few Brits - Lucy Shuker plays the third seeded Chinese, Zhu, in her opener. Andy Lapthorne is seeded 4 in quad. And Andrew Penney is our sole entrant in the mens.
As always, the ITF site isnt updated with draws for the Open de Royan, and yet play starts today. But I found a facebook page with the draws and, it appears, the only British entrant is Lucy Shuker who is seeded 8th in the womens.
That might be wrong, so I will check again when the ITF print the official draws.

Play will start Tuesday for the FO wheelchair events. Alfie, Gordon, Lucy and Andy represent GB here.
The field will be very similar to the Paralympics. After the FO, the players go straight on to the Super Series event in Nice, then it is onto grass for a few weeks incl Eastbourne, the British Open in Roehampton and then Wimbledon.
Alfie and Gordon could play in the last 8. They both start their events tomorrow, as does Lucy Shuker; Andy starts later in the week.
In doubles, Alfie and Gordon play together, of course, Lucy is with Angelica Bernal of Colombia and Andy partners Guy Sasson of Israel - interesting that he and Donald Ramphadi arent playing together to defend their title, nor is Andy playing with David Wagner who he won the AO and the Cajun Classic with.
Action starts with mens singles and womens singles last 16 action all day tomorrow
The Brits arent playing until the back end of the schedule today, but early upset in the mens as the 4th seed, de la Puente (who played against GB in the World Cup final recently) loses his opener against Japanese player, Miki.
Opens the half up for Oda, the biggest threat to Alfie, who has a clearer run to the final now.
