Katie has withdrawn from her doubles today. I would have thought the match play would be useful. Hoping this doesn't mean yet another injury?
I'm not sure that doubles matches is really what Swan needs to be doing, as doubles tends to be a bit chaotic, and might increase injury potential. If Katie is there playing singles, then ok a few doubles matches probably wouldn't be an issue. However, now she's out of this weeks singles competition, I'd have thought practise and rest would be on the cards. There's plenty of things to work on, as a learning from the defeat by Rouvroy. Finding a way to combat the tactics of Rouvroy, and avoid the descent into a disadvantaged position in the rally, is an important area to work on. Players know that Katie's strength is in power tennis from the baseline, and so they are going to try to not let her play that way. Coming to the net early in the rally, might be a strategy to stop opponents just slicing back the return, so that means working on volleying technique, etc.
