Week 1 - WTA250 - Auckland, New Zealand Hard

Hope that strapping on her leg is precautionary - assuming its the same leg she had some tape on yesterday. Well played Emma!

That was certainly a lot closer than I was expecting. 3-1 up at one point in the 2nd set tie break and then Svitolina won five points in a row.

Honestly think that was the best outcome. A really competitive, long match. Tested her body and gets plenty of recovery time.

I'm sure Emma is going to get into the main draw.  She is next  in at the moment and there is a  question mark over Madison Keys playing. Svitolina has lost her last 3 matches against British players after winning the 1st set. They were against Jo(her last  ever singles win) Harriet and Heather.

Well !Addison has pulled out of Adelaide a few hours ago from a Tweet and definitely question marks re AO. There is a rumour she is pregnant but cant confirmm.

As it turned out Emma made the main draw with Lauren Davis pulling out. Now Madison Keys has pulled out with a reported shoulder injury. As a former Grand Slam runner up  her place in the main draw it seems  will be taken by another former Grand Slam runner up in Sara Errani.

Just noted that Jane O'Donoghue, who was with Emma this week, is no longer a coach with the LTA and is now working in finance.
Nick Cavaday takes charge next week.

Secondly, sorry to hear about your condition, I hope youre coping with it and wish you well. And never apologise re typos etc as a result, theyre unimportant!
