Oh she looked quite emotional about that. Good for her

I thought Emma looked fit but rusty. She had spells when she was playing consistently well and then spells when she was erratic. Svitolina is likely to be too much of a challenge at this stage of Emma's come back but we shall see.

She is bound to be rusty after so long out of the game. The practice courts are great but she needs match practice. Three sets will have done her rehab good, but too soon to beat Svitolina I agree Peter but who knows?

I agree and quite honestly Im not bothered if she loses. I hope she can play a couple of competitive sets against Svitolina and then two good matches and a few days rest should set her up nicely for qualies next week.

Really happy that she came through a 3 set match to fully test the previous injuries.
Big well done.

With Petra's withdrawal isn't she just one out from the MD now?

Emma needs time on court and today was a bonus.
She played well in patches, but will take her a few weeks to get competition fit.

Just a note that her serve, which is a big weapon, was a little down in speed, but will come will confidence in her wrist and her mind.

Yes just needs one more withdrawal

Looked like Jane O'Donoghue in Emma's box?

It was- not Cavaday as predicted. Emmas used her before for a short period with mixed results.

Nice comeback win for Emma. Delighted to see her back on court looking fit and healthy.
Can't see her getting past Svitolina at this stage but never say never.
Personally I hope she plays the qualies next week as she needs the matches.
I'd rather see her win three matches and qualify as opposed to losing in rd1 to a seeded player for example.
I just think she would gain more that way at this stage of her comeback.
