At the start of the season, we indicated that all British winners of a grand slam title or Olympics/Paralympics, would qualify for the Player of the Season vote at the end of the year.
Now the 4 slams and Olympic events are over, the players who achieved that are:
Alfie Hewett/Gordon Reid - won Australian, French, Wimbledon and Paralympic Mens Wheelchair Doubles titles
Andy Lapthorne - won the Australian Quad Wheelchair Doubles title
Henry Patten - won the Wimbledon Mens Doubles title
Mika Stojsavljevic - won the US Junior Girls Singles title
6 slam titles and 1 Paralympics title this season overall, and we will see all of these players in the PoS vote in early January!!
There are so many players who could be contenders to win player of the season this year, most open one we have had and no one looking like they will run away with it; and maybe a half dozen to a dozen genuine contenders to win it! Exciting!

Steady. There look to be a few but certainly to my mind not currently or likely to end up as more tha half a dozen genuine contenders.
Still, should be very interesting. Although if any of them want to to totally take the bull by the horns abd disappear over the horizon in the last few months, feel free!

Maybe Im over the top! But I can think of maybe 3 or 4 men, 3 or 4 women, and maybe 3 or 4 juniors that could have a shoot , and then one or two from wheelchair. Maybe in reality a bit of hyperbole from me, but it certainly feels a stronger depth of contender, and mainly from singles this time as opposed to mens doubles!
2024 Player of Season Qualifiers - mika is already in but the US Girls title cements it! Ditto Alfie and Gordon in Paralympics

When checking, I was surprised Sonay hasnt had a past month in 2024 where she has done well in the Pom votes - but she hasnt in fact and, currently, isnt qualified for player of the season. maybe Septembers vote will change that!
Question we have had 4 ties for PoM this season (and 2 ties for second spot as well)
Are folks ok with that? I wont change things this year, but do people mind a tie or would they rather see some sort of vote off to decide an outright winner? Something to consider for 2025...

September was a bumper voting month, October and November seem to be strong months in the past years, relatively, so hoping we get a strong end to the season
And here is the remaining 2024 calendar for the Sir Andy Murray player of the month/season for the rest of the year: each month is 4 or 5 weeks.
October 2024 - Sunday 3rd November (ie end of week 44, end of Paris Indoor) - 5 week period includes ATP 1000 Paris and Shanghai, WTA 1000 Beijing and Wuhan (vote 3 Nov - 5 Nov)
November 2024 - Sunday 1st December (ie end of week 48) - 4 week period; includes Davis Cup finals week, BJK Cup finals week, ATP Tour Finals, WTA Tour Finals, NEC Wheelchair Masters; this month marks the end of the ATP Tour, main WTA Tour and Challenger tour (vote 1 Dec to 3 Dec)
Rankings cut off to determine number ones qualifying for POS vote - for the senior categories I am using the end of the Tour Finals as the cut off date for the 4 categories ie 11th Nov ranking list for women, 18th Nov for men; for the juniors, I am going to use the ranking list post the Orange Bowl ie 16th December
December 2024 - Sunday 22nd December (ie end of week 51) - 3 week period due to Xmas.includes Next Gen Finals, several WTA 125 events and some ITF events, and the Orange Bowl juniors (Vote 22Dec to 24 Dec)
Player of the Season votes will then run:
Wild card nominations - these will be asked for from 24th December and close December 31st
Wild Card Vote - Wednesday 1st January to Thursday 2nd January
PoS Round One - Saturday 4th January to Monday 6th January
PoS Semifinals - Tuesday 7th January to Thursday 9th January
PoS Final - Friday 10th January to Sunday 12th January

Of the remaining number one slots up for grabs (with the wheelchair number ones sorted), here are the current positions in relation to qualfying for the player of the season
Mens Singles #1 Jack Draper (feels hard to see anyone usurping Jack who is also already qualified)
Womens Singles # 1 Katie Boulter (as per Jack, hard to see anyone usurping Katie, who is already qualified)
Mens Doubles # 1 Joe Salisbury (Joe may come under challenge from Henry, possibly others? Joe not yet qualiefied)
Womens Doubles # 1 Olivia Nicholls (may come under challenge from Heather but seems likely Liv will top this - not yet qualified)
Junior Boys # 1 Charlie Robertson (may come under challenge from Oli B, Charlie isnt yet qualified)
Junior Girls # 1 Mika Stojsavljevic (3 way battle, but will Hannah and Mimi play any more matches in junors? Mika and Hannah already qualified, Mimi isnt - maybe she will read this and focus on juniors to the season end!)
