24 have qualified already.

28 players will vie for 4 places left in player of the season vote:

3 are in the PoS wildcard vote AND December PoM vote
15 others are in the PoS wildcard vote only
7 others are in the December PoM vote only
3 others are still playing in December but not in any vote - but with a good week they may get in and cant be counted out yet!

Thats 24 plus 28 = 52 players in with a chance, however slim it may be!

So how will this work, I hear you ask!

December PoM vote - 10 players (as it stands) in one single vote. Top 2 plus ties will get through to PoS

PoS wildcard vote - 18 players less any that subsequently qualify from December PoM. As I am away over New Year, to make it easy for me, there will be one single wildcard group and vote, and the top players (Depending on how many wildcards are needed) will qualify for PoS. If there is a tie, the tied players will go into a vote off, format to be determined.

2024 Pos vote - will start Jan 4th per above, with 28 players split into 4 groups of 7; from the 7, top 3 plus ties go to the semis. semis will be two groups of 6 or more (if there have been ties); from the semis, the top 2 plus ties will progress to the final. The final will be 4 players or more (if there have been ties).

It may sound complicated but it all is mapped out. Only thing that will throw it out is if we have more than 3 players in ties in December PoM, in which case the PoS field will increase to 32 players and the number of wildcards adapted accordingly. Although it could happen, its unlikely, will only impact how many wildcards are needed and increase the 4 initial PoS groups from 7 to 8.

All in control. Now, off to my brother in law and his wife and nice dog walk along the river into York! And a mince pie and a Baileys!

Ill put a 2025 Overview thread up once PoS for 2024 is done and dusted. Ill put a January 2025 nominations thread up as soon as December 24 PoM is done though.

Truth told, Im struggling with dates for 2025 PoM votes/periods. A number of the 1000 events run over month ends, Aussie Open seems a week earlier this year, so week 5 comes into January play and various other head scratchers! I dont like PoM votes falling mid way through an event, even at ATP/WTA level and certainly not at Slam level, so Ill need a bit of though to work out the ideal timings with the tournie calendars in front of me! So that can happen once 2024 PoS is done.

January 25, though, will run from now until end of week 5, ie Sunday Feb 2, which I think includes a Davis Cup tie as well as the AO.
