17 women in Loughborough qualifying - looks like Eliz and Freya have been promoted to the main draw with wild cards.

Surprised Ranah and Ella had to go through qualifying

I'm not at all surprised Ella is in qualifying. She was 1-8 in 25k main draws last year and 4-17 across all adult events. She needs to get some wins and build some confidence. Ranah a bit surprised given she has earned a feed up WC, but perhaps it's her choice to go through qualifying this week.

The 4th WC is a bit of a mystery. All the juniors that would be candidates are either in Oz or Slovakia.

Liam is out of qualies due to bone stressors in his ankle. Kudos for speaking out that although tempting to turn up and receive the money, that it wouldn't be right to do so and deny someone else a place.

Thats a real blow . Any idea if these are a long term issue or just a temporary problem?

Absolutely. He's a good sort smile

And kudos, too, to the Aussie Open for giving him his travel expenses.

A nice message from Laurent Lokoli as well, who was the beneficiary of Liam's decision to withdraw.

"Liam, I wish you a speedy recovery. We are born same year and we know each other since childhood. Today you have shown how fair you are off the court as well. Thank you for letting an other player competing meanwhile your could have play. Great sportsmanship. I wish u the best"

 Ahh, that's lovely

Thanks for posting it, Bob

I'm glad it was a 'good guy' like Lokoli who got the benefit - and that he came out like that for Liam - it's true - it's a big wodge of dosh for Liam to turn down - he could have played the system very easily, if he'd wanted to
