2023 PLAYER OF THE SEASON VOTE - FINAL

Well, a wave of votes and we are at 17 now.

And a lot came in for one player!!

I will do some "scores" updates like in other votes, when we get to the evening. 17 so far, though, is a fast start! Doesnt mean we will get more votes overall and quite possibly means we end up with a slow day 2, but on the plus side, we will get a good view on where it is going to end up, sooner

18 votes now.

Looking like maybe just 3 riders left in the battle even at this early stage

I voted for Joe. Easy choice as none of the others are anywhere near being a Grand Slam champion!

Thanks Bagel - the slam and tour finals did it for me also. I think Im a person who values the big highs more than the steady grind, and that is where Joe stood apart for me.

Only Neal could have equalled that, from the pros, or Alfie from the wider candidates.

If hed reached the final, Alfie would have been my selection, but not to be.

It really is a 3 way battle and its going to be very, very interesting over the next 30 hours.

The fourth placed player needs some love though!

the lowest score in a final ever was 3 votes in our first final, Alfie got the 3. And it was c9% as a percentage.

I dont think our 4th placed player deserves 0 votes at the end, so hope they get on the board and also hope they beat that all time low tally of 3 / 9%.

I went for Joe rather hypocritically, as my only tennis wish for this season was Liam making the top 100. But on reflection, I can't see past Joe. Not just the two titles but how he bounced back and won them after a poor start, shoulder injury, serving adjustment etc.

Agreed, he turned his season around. Kudos to the guy!

Our bottom player is on the board, no zero votes, hope they can beat the low score of 3 though!

The other 3 are in a tie.

So, a reminder, if there is a tie at the end, ie 10pm tomorrow evening, there will be a tie break vote / run off.

As this closes at 10pm, I will need to work out timings for that, but most likely I will post the tie break, if needed, late Wednesday night and run it through to lunch time Thursday - as it is the final and there are no rounds coming up, we have the luxury of a bit more time than we had in the early round tie breaks.

But a long way to go til we know if we even need a tie break!!

All are worthy finalists but in the end there is one name that stands out purely for the achievements and deserves the title. That is Joe.
