I do hope Alfie Hewett gets through this first round. Is going to be named ITF World Champion for the first time as year-end No.1 with two Slam singles titles and a further three in doubles. What does the man have to do...?

 Im with you!

once the process has finished this season, Im going to raise a debate about wheelchair players and the player of month and season process, but Ill leave it until it has finished!

Group C and D look the most competitive now, and plenty of room for new votes to make a difference.

If you havent voted, anyone can, there are 4 groups and we are whittling down to find our player of the season on Wednesday.

And remember, please do say when you vote, for whom and why- it helps make a difference and makes it more interesting.

And finally - anyone else can comment, at any time. Its not just a JonH show!

Joe for winning the US Open and the Tour finals after a difficult start to the year. And because I always feel he's underrated.

38 votes and a change in 3rd place. Tie for second and 4th place is just one behind.

This is where the action is out. And the wheelchair game could be out of here in round one!

Second to fourth place is now a big battle joined - this is THE group to watch.

I don't quite understand - sorry if I haven't being following properly

Player of the season? Is this a four times a year thing? This is autumn/winter?

Or is this player of the year, i.e. 2023?

and if it's 2023 why are we doing it now when 2023 has not ended?

Where is the December player of the month? Do we not have one?

I seem to remember we've had this discussion before but there are lots of players taking part in December - and doing really well - Heather, Hannah, and we've only just started - there's lots more on the list and, anyway, some months are more skinny, some less, a month is a month.

I'm definitely not going to be thinking about them, for their achievements now, at the end of January

It's no problem, I understand completely that there are different views, and the person who bears the burden of doing it all is in charge. But, for me, I find it weird that it doesn't follow the calendar year.

Wow CD - youve not been following ?!

I thought you were someone who was well into player of the month and season so slightly shocked.

Yes, player of the year. Weve been voting on wildcards and the like for a week or so, it was well highlighted a while ago (months ago and then consistently since end of summer) it would be early December because a) most of the season was over b) it runs now because we have a thing called Xmas taking place and it takes an awful lot of running to be honest

I mean Im sort of shocked you arent aware of this until now.

Im taking it you wont be voting? Which disappoints me.

Im actually , well, just befuddled, really. And a little sad.

And December player of the month takes place alongside January as a joint month as the December month is curtailed and certainly less active - exactly as we did last year.
