It's 4 points for winning the QR1, yes?

In which case, that's a nice present for Christmas (and, yes, Emily could still lose but, really, you can't ask for much better)

Net 3 for Beth and 2 for Emily - but they have to win first! And only 2 extra points for actually qualifying.

There was never any question of them not winning biggrin

Emily won 1 & 0

And Beth won 0 & 0

I think Emily's 4 points will just replace the 4 from Dubai last year.  She'll need another win for a net gain.

This is true - last year's points drop off next week - I missed that.

I presume Beth's opponent is better known under a different name

Kateryna is the younger sister of professional tennis players Valeria and Alona Bondarenko. Married Denis Volodko in 2011 (source Wiki). Now aged 37 and still competing at a decent level.

Beth lost 6-4 7-5

Only saw the end bit....

Close, against the top seed, Beth was playing pretty well....

Emily is 4-1 up. Quite a surprise.

Yes. She's playing quite well, but nothing amazing (I've seen her serve a lot better, for instance)
Her opponent looks a bit flustered ..... long may it continue

She takes the first set 6-3 smile

Emily had two break points at the start of the second set.
Her opponent was looking well rattled
But she couldn't take either
And then played a poor game
Is now 1-2 down
It's a little frustrating....the inability to focus on the key moments of turning the screw....
Allez, Em !

She held on to her serve 3-4, she is making mistakes in this second set but hasn't given up yet.
