No changes to our team but Burel replaces Garcia.

Yes, that's exactly what we loved biggrin

I've only briefly flicked through the French sites

There seems to be flutterings that Julien will pick Burel today

But not really based on anything concrete (apart from the fact Caro lost biggrin)

I think it will very much depend how Caro feels

Looks like the flutterings were right biggrin

Ooh, with it being Burel I'd have been even more inclined to play Fran actually. But I can imagine Katie being hungry and keen to prove herself. Let's go.

I hope Katie delivers, she wasnt even close yesterday. Bit risky. Means it could go down to a deciding doubles in which case Caroline will be back me thinks. Mmm

Emma would still need to do the business against Parry, not a dead cert.

Yeah, the concern is Burel and Parry both have similarish styles so no reason why Katie wouldn't struggle. Against Caro (and I'd have still been tempted to have a punt on Fran) at least you're getting a less clay-y ball which might help her trading from the back.

Well, we'll see.

That's exactly what I thought. I'd probably go as far as to say that yesterday was the best she's played since that US Open. Given the circumstances and the surface this might even be her best win to date.

Not just the return of serve but her own serve looked much better and her movement was very decent too. Fantastic result. Shows our women there's nothing to really fear from playing on clay.

It's on iPlayer and BBC sport website. Possibly red button as well.

Watching the two matches yesterday I got the impression that Katie hits the ball harder than Emma but Emma is better at hitting angles and hitting lines. If that impression was right then it might go some way to explain why Emma's game was more successful on clay than Katie's.

Maybe, I just think Emma moves better on clay, cleaner footwork.

Comes through a very tight opening game. 3 doubles and a break point.

1-0*

The forehand into the corner and the volley put away is a smart play.
