"We were very fortunate to get a second chance at recruiting Jasmine this spring," head coach Simon Earnshaw said. "She's someone we've been tracking since the summer of 2022. Jasmine has the background and game style that resonates with our program. I'm confident we'll be able to assist Jasmine with her future aspirations on and off the court. She'll be a key member of Pack Women's Tennis moving forward in our ongoing pursuit of competing for titles. Go Pack!"
Parsabombs report that Will Jansen is transferring to Ohio State, one of the top tennis programs, who are rebuilding their roster following the departure of many of the playing line-up who were in their last year of eligibility. Ohio State were the #1 ranked team in men's college tennis throughout the 2024 season until TCU defeated them in the NCAA semi-finals for only their 2nd loss of the season. Could be interesting. One to watch.
With just about everyone not expecting Pinnington Jones to return to college and him being on a LTA funding program from next month, I was interested to hear TCU head coach Roditi say in a podcast that, although JPJ could be top 80, he was still hopeful that he will be back for another season. I thought the decision he wasn't had been made some time ago, but perhaps there is some behind the scenes gentle persuasion to get him to change his mind?
But if he doesn't than the only 2 returning from last season's starting 6, one of which is Lui Maxted, are ready to lead at the top of the order.

I spotted Jasmine at Wimbledon qualies yesterday - with her left wrist bandaged. Hope it is nothing serious.
* Building upon the success seen on the ATP and WTA Tours in recent years, over 18% of all competing tennis athletes have ties to collegiate programs, including 46.9% of players in the mens doubles draw, 28.1% of all players in the womens doubles draw, 12.5% of players in the mens singles draw, and 7.8% of players in the womens singles draw.
Across all 31 players with college ties, UCLA and Georgia lead all teams with three former players represented in the field. Following closely after will be Pepperdine, Texas A&M, and Virginia who all have two former players represented in Paris. *
Brits are Cam (TCU) and in mens dubs Joe (Memphis) and Neal ( LSU)
Jamie Connel (Florida State) was runner up in a ITA Summer Masters event a couple of weeks ago and as a result secured a place in the ITA National Summer Championships to take place in Memphis, TN August 10 to 13. He is 2nd in the entry list order. He will also play in doubles.
Harry Rock and Sam Reeves are also in the doubles entries. I'm not certain, but I think they are the host site wild card.
The ITA National Summer Championships has a $20k prize fund with the singles winner getting $3,000 and a wild card to the ITA All-American championships that take place at the end of September. The runner-up will get $1,500 and a wild card to the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships.

For the second year running Jamie Connel is in the final of the ITA National Summer Championships where, in a repeat of last year's final, he will face Kenta Miyoshi (Illinois). Jamie lost to Miyoshi in last year's final in a MTB and earlier this summer in the final of the Wisconsin ITA Summer Masters in straight sets.

Jamie is still looking for his win over Miyoshi as he loses 3 & 3. But he comes away with $1,500 (+ doubles SF prize money) and a qualifying wild card to the ITA All-Americans next month.
The ITA pre-season rankings are out to remind us that the start of the US College season is around the corner - I thought these were out next week. As always, not too much weight should be placed on the pre-season rankings. These are the returning players (from last year's top 125) for the fall season ranked in the order they finished last season with the spaces left by non-returning players filled by committee.
It is always going to be difficult to follow last season's very successful year for our players and we start with only 1 top 30 player in singles. Apologies to anyone I miss.
Men - Singles 3. Oliver Tarvet (San Diego) 35. Will Jansen (Ohio State) 39. Lui Maxted (TCU) 65. Connor Thomson (South Carolina) 73. Max Basing (Stanford) 82. Jamie Connel (Florida State) 95. Luca Pow (Wake Forest) 102. Oscar Weightman (USC)
In doubles - wholly decided by committee - Freddy Blaydes (with Niels Ratiu) is ranked at 2. Also ranked are Oliver Tarvet (#23), Connor Thomson (#24), Max Basing (#50), Luca Pow (#72), Will Jansen (#75), Jamie Connel (#78) and Hugo Coquelin (#86)
These rankings confirm that Jack PJ is not playing college tennis for at least the fall season, but this isn't really surprising as even if he was returning I didn't expect him to play until the spring anyway.
Talia is also ranked at #8 in the Newcomers rankings.
In doubles, Grace Piper is also our highest ranked (with new partner Lily Fairclough) at #20. Also ranked (with their partners) are Millie Bisset (#34), Immi Haddad (#36), Jacquelyn Ogunwale (#46), Holly Fischer (#62), Talia (#66), Sofia Johnson (#77), Kristina Paskauskas and Jasmine Conway (#85), and Given Roach at #88.

As discussed on these boards before the NCAA Div 1 Individual Championships in a 2 year trial have moved to take place at the end of the fall season on the 19 to 24 November. As such, selection is based on competition instead of rankings. There are 4 competitions providing 3 opportunities to be selected for the NCAAs that take place from the end of September through to mid November - 3 opportunities because the last 2 competitions take place on the same weekend.
The first opportunity is the All-American Championships in the 2nd half of this month. The singles quarter-finalists and the 2 consolation draw finalists will qualify for the NCAA Championships. The 4 doubles semi-final teams also go through. The next opportunity is a couple of weeks after that in the ITA regional championships where the singles finalists and doubles winners from each region will go through to the NCAAs. There are then 2 further competitions taking place in early November to select the remaining places. 1 of those is for losing players that go deepest in the All-American and Regional championships and the other is for 1 nominated player and doubles team from each eligible conference.
