They sure do Jon. Everyone is playing today. There are no days off. 2 rounds of singles and 1 round of doubles today.
Seedings are based on World Tennis Number rather than ranking which has given a couple of unexpected seedings.
Sofia is 2nd seed in the Conference Masters and gets a bye to R2, so only has to play once today and now only needs 2 wins to make the NCAAs. None of our men in the Conference Masters are seeded and I don't expect we'll get much from them but I'll monitor their progress
Will Jansen is 5-8 seed in his sectional. As I said earlier his is the toughest of all the events this weekend so they'll be few, if any, easy matches. I don't expect anything from the Men's South draw. Hugo, should he get through R1, is likely to play the 2nd seed in R2. Max is top seed in the West sectional. Potentially he and Derrick could meet in R2. Luca plays the 3rd seed from Harvard in R1
Talia is unexpectedly seeded 4 in the South sectional. Alicia is unseeded and could meet the 3rd seed in R2. Grace is 5th seed in the west sectional. Immi unfortunately plays the 2nd seed, Lan Mi (Cal), in the opening round. However, Mi lost to Gabia in the All-Americans so there is hope. Kristina and Jasmine have replaced Gabia+ in the East doubles draw.
Thanks Lambda - so cards on the table, which Brits do you think will get to the NCAAs from these events?
Before today's play I'd say it'd be disappointing if Sofia didn't make it, and with 6 going through in the sectionals I'd probably say the same for Max. I'm not sure where Will is at following him being out for much of last spring's play and its really anybody's in his sectional. Grace I'd expect to make the QFs, but whether she can progress to the Semis or win the play-offs for the losing QFs I'm not sure. Luca's recent results suggest he's in with a shout but he has a tricky opener.
Singles play is mostly complete for today. Rain affected many of the sectionals which has put them behind a little.
It was a walk in the park for Sofia, or should that be a walk to the bakery, as she didn't break sweat in dishing out a couple of breadsticks. She is now the favourite to win the Masters following the top seed being knocked out by a freshman from Romania. Sofia doesn't need to play a seed to make the NCAAs as the 5-8 seed in her section was also knocked out in the round. Cheri Darley threw away a 5-2 second set lead to lose in straight sets. Jack Batchelor lost in R1 and Alex Okonkwo made it through to R2 where he lost in 3 sets.
Billy Blaydes forced a decider in his opening match, coming from 2-5 down to take the set 7-5 but lost the decider. Roan Jones made it through R1 in 3 and Hugo got an excellent win in 3 and will play the 2nd seed in R2 tomorrow. Talia easily won the first set, but lost in 3. A match I wanted to watch but the order of play was thrown out the window twice by moving indoors and then back outdoors and I missed it. Alicia's match was a bit of a marathon but she got the win in 3 and will play the 3rd seed in R2 tomorrow.
Luca upset the 3rd seed and should now be favourite to progress to the Semis in his quarter. There other seed in his section must have withdrawn as there is no 5-8 seed. He has the highest WTN in his quarter of the draw. Dani Hack went out in straight sets
In Fort Worth, rain suspended play for a few hours so they are behind. TCU are not doing live scores and they're not putting the court allocation on the draw so it's difficult to follow. As far as the draw says, Will has yet to play.
No rain in Los Angeles or Malibu though. Beautiful blue skys. Grace won her match in 3 sets and plays R2 later today. Immi lost in straight sets. She was going toe-to-toe with Mi up until the last game of the 1st set when she was broken and then lost the 2nd quite easily. I'm not too bothered about that, Immi needs to focus on doubles where she has an excellent chance of making the NCAAs. I do hope she can make some progress in singles this season and make a bid for the NCAAs next year. Her level doesn't seem that far off being able to qualify. Max and Derrick have yet to play.
The late results are in and are mostly disappointing. Both Will and Max lost, Max very easily it seems. But Derrick progresses to play Max's conqueror. Grace won her R2 match to progress to the QFs to play 4th seed UCLA's Lutkemeyer. A win will see her qualify for the NCAAs, but should she lose she will have another chance to qualify in the QF losers play-offs to determine the final 2 qualifying spots.
In the doubles in the conference masters Jack & Matthew progress as did Luc Koenig but Ben Johnson+ was knocked out. Sally Pethybridge+ wins but plays the top seeds in R2, Savannah Dada-Mascoll+ have replaced the original Sun Belt conference selection and are a 5-8 seeded team and won their R1 match. Millie B+ as 2nd seeds have a bye to R2.
In the south sectional disappointment for all our men as Jamie Connel+, Roan Jones+ and surprisingly Freddy Blaydes+ all lost. Freddy is a huge shock to me. I would definitely had them as favourites to qualify. The seedings are a bit of a nonsense with being determined on combined singles WTN meaning Jamie+ are top seeds while Freddy+, 2nd in the pre-season rankings, are unseeded. Hannah Rylatt+ gave a injury walkover, but Given+ progress to R2
In the East, Connor Thomson+, top seeds, lost but Ant Wright+ moves to the next round. Dani Hack+ beat the 2nd seeds of Hamner and Carnicella (S Carolina) and alts Jasmine and Kristina win their opening round match.
In the central sectional, Lui+ progresses nicely as top seeds but Louis Bowden was knocked out.
And finally in the west sectional Derrick+ wins a MTB to progress to R2. The women's doubles start today.
After being 1 match away from the NCAAs twice at the All-Americans, Sofia Johnson doesn't let her third chance slip as she eases into the NCAAs with another dominant display, 6-1 6-3. Congratulations. Job done. But if she wants to win first she has to get past 3rd seed #33 Katja Wiersholm (Cal) in the SFs.
Grace Piper lost 6-1 4-6 1-6 and will try again in the play-offs against Eva Alvarez Sande (Washington State) [5-8]
Alicia Dudeney won her 2nd round match last night with an excellent win against Georgia's Aysegul Mert [3]. Under the watchful eye of new Head Coach Per Nilsson, in the QFs, like Grace, Alicia won the first set but then lost the 2nd. In the deciding set she fought back from *0-4 to 6-5* but after all that effort played a poor tie-break to lose 6-4 3-6 6-7(3?). She will play off against Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher (Mississippi) tomorrow.
The men's singles are at the R2 stage Roan Jones goes through to the QF but Hugo lost easily to the 2nd seed of Kentucky.
Luca Pow only lost 1 service game in his R2 match and that was on deciding point in the last game of the match to lose 6-7 6-1 5-7. Needless to say, racket was thrown hard towards the ground.
The 2 women's doubles teams who I thought had a chance of qualify both took a thrasing. Millie+ went out 1 & 2 while Immi+ went out 0 & 0. Sally Pethybridge also lost easily to the Vanderbilt top seeds, 1 & 2 but that was expected. Kristina & Jasmine also lost but made a fight of it against the Virginia 4th seeds 7-6(2) 3-6 [6-10].
Savannah Dada-Mascoll did win through to the QF of the conference masters to play the Boise State conquerors of Millie B+ later today.
Jack & Matthew make it as the only unseeded team in the Conference Masters through to the QFs, which they are currently playing and are down a set.
Lui Maxted+ and Will Jansen+ make it to the SFs at the Central sectionals.
Other doubles matches and Derrick's singles match to update later.
Still standing: Conference Masters singles SF: Sofia Johnson Conference Masters doubles QF: Savannah Dada-Mascoll, Jack Batchelor & Matthew Nice

Savannah Dada-Mascoll, a completely new name to me, any background in juniors?
Thanks for the round up
I'm sure I have seen the name around before, but it wasn't a name I recognised until someone pointed her out at the All-Americans. When I looked her up it seems she was primarily focussed on netball pre-college and played tennis on the British Tour and other domestic tournaments (I'm sure if I'm doing her tennis a disservice someone will correct me). She was on the netball player pathway playing for England at junior age groups and was U21 Player of the Season a couple of years ago.
Anyway, she's won her doubles QF and is through to the SF for 2 chances to book her ticket to Waco - either by winning the SF or by winning the 3-4 play-off.
Elsewhere in the remaining matches today no good news, Derrick lost the last 6 games to lose his R2 match 3-6 6-3 4-6
Jack & Matthew won an epic 2nd set tie-break but lost the MTB 3-6 7-6(10) [8-10]

Dani and Ant lost their R2 doubles matches.
Savannah is from Yorkshire, was in amongst the stronger group from her age group in lta tournaments at around under 12 and under 14. She then seemingly played less tennis tournaments, but still some, such as county representative events and some others, until doing as bit more at 16 ish presumably to get her college application going. I didn't know about the netball but that would explain the time gap in going all out for tennis.
