Eva Shaw let what could have been a great win get away. She blitzed the first set in double quick time and was *3-1 up in the 2nd set. Good scoreline from Millie against the former Junior Wimbledon Champion but fell just short.

There was a huge crowd for this conference decider with, the seating area full, fans watched from where they could with many watching from over the side railings and packing the grass bank overlooking the courts.
Wake Forest were at full strength for this one with Dostanic back from playing pros. Interestingly, they shook up the doubles teams with Luca playing with Suresh at 1 and Charlie with Dostanic at 2. Both got wins to put Wake Forest 1 up going into singles. Playing at No 5 Luca dispatched Leroux in short order 0 & 0, for Leroux's first loss at the No 5 position or higher from 12 matches. With Luca finishing 1st, Charlie was the last of the completed singles to finish wth a 4 & 4 win at No 4 over Van Sambeek who is 12 - 4 in dual play. The win clinched the match and the regular season title for Wake Forest.
This marks the first time Wake Forest has gone unbeaten in regular season play.
WFU's match report is gushing on Luca and Charlie: "Extending his winning streak to 21-consecutive matches, Pow picked up a quick and dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Jules Leroux on court five. He now holds a 26-2 record in singles this season and an incredible 51-4 mark over his two-year career with the Demon Deacons. Pow is now just three matches shy of his previous career-best winning streak of 24. Additionally, the Englishman finished with an 11-0 record in conference play this season, which brought his career record in ACC matches to 18-0.
After taking the time to adjust to collegiate tennis, Robertson has now completely taken over and won six-straight matches to bring his record to 8-6 on the year as he defeated Fons Van Sambeek (6-4, 6-4) on court four to clinch the regular season title. The Scot has not lost since Feb. 25 and now holds a perfect 5-0 record against ACC opponents. He has quickly become one of the most clutch players in the nation with multiple clinching victories in huge matches. "

San Diego women win their first ever West Coast Conference regular season title (or at least a share of it) with a 4-3 over Pepperdine. The win is USD's first over Pepperdine in 13 years and ends an 83 match WCC win streak for Pepperdine. It also boosts USD's chances of a NCAA place as the win puts them at a projected 43 (44 if today's matches elsewhere go with rankings), up from 57.
After suffering injuries all season needing to play some matches without a full compliment of players, USD were at full strength for this match, Pepperdine were missing their No 1 and only upperclassman. At doubles No 2 Hannah Read (USD) lost to split the first two completed doubles matches. San Diego won the all important doubles point on court 3, saving 5 match points to turn a 3-5 deficit into a 7-5 win to give them the important doubles point. Playing at No 4 in singles, Hannah wasn't messing around and was the first to finish singles with a 1 & 3 win to put USD 2-0 up. Hannah has now not lost in 6. Fittingly on seniors day for San Diego, it was one of their senior's playing on the top court that got the final win for San Diego.
San Diego travel to Washington State on Friday for their final regular season conference match. A win will give them the regular season title outright with an undefeated WCC campaign.

On the women's side Harvard (Holly Fischer) won the Ivy League for the first time in 8 years.
A mention for Eva Shaw (Florida State) who had another strong performance taking #4 Brantmeier (UNC) to a 3rd set, only the 4th player this year to do so (2 of who are top 10, all other 3 are top 25). She was unfinished at 2-6 6-4 2-0
Alicia Dudeney (Florida) also had another strong performance in her final home match for Florida, and was the only Florida player to win a singles set and Florida's only point in another disappointing result. Florida's injury woes continued as they forfeited No 3 doubles and had a retirement at No 5 singles.

Round 2: #63 Louisville (12) defeated #57 Florida State (13) 4-2 Eva Shaw (FSU) won No 1 singles 1 & 3 Millie Bisset lost No 2 singles 1 & 3
Florida State's season comes to an end. Eva has looked very impressive these last couple of weeks and it'll be interesting to see how far she gets if she plays the fall season. With a pre-season top 25 ranking, probably finishing outside the top 60, they will need to do some soul searching to identify what went wrong this season. Was it scheduling or recruitment or both? Abby Kelliher has committed for next year as their only recruit so far for next season.

SEC Championships Women Round 1 #47 Florida (12) defeated #34 Alabama (13) 4-3 Alicia Dudeney (Florida) lost No 1 doubles 4-6 Talia Neilsen-Gatenby (Florida) won No 3 doubles 7-6(5) Alicia won No 2 singles 4-6 6-4 6-3 Talia won No 3 singles 6-4 6-4
A much needed win for Florida to give a morale boost going into the summer. Florida won a closely fought doubles point lasting over an hour in 2 tie-break sets on courts 2 and 3. Alicia+ had gone down an early break in their doubles set that they couldn't recover. Florida crucially had one of their injured players back for doubles, otherwise they wouldn't have won the doubles point, which ultimately decided the match.
That returning player wasn't fit enough for singles though leaving their No 6 to play up and their walk on to play No 6 and these 2 courts went Alabama's way in short order. Talia leved the score 2-2 with a straight sets win, getting a hidden bagel in the 2nd set as she fought back from 0-4 down to win it 6-4. Talia had been moved down to No 4 in recent weeks after a difficult few weeks playing with injury, but looking like she's moving more freely now was moved back up to No 3 for this tournament and she repaid that trust in her. After they split courts 1 and 4, it left Alicia on court 2 as the only match playing to decide the victor. Alicia came through under immense pressure to get the clinch.
On Alicia clinching the match her Head Coach said "Alicia has now won 11 matches straight in the SEC and not many people can do that. She has also had the best attitude at practice and consistently comes with high energy, so she earns moments like that."
Florida progress to play #13 Vanderbilt (seed 5) in round 2 today, who has Jack Findel-Hawkins on their coaching staff. They cannot qualify for the NCAAs unless they win the tournament, but the women's SEC is loaded with it having 8 teams in the top 14 of the rankings. Vanderbilt have some big scalps this year, including over the No 1 ranked team Texas A&M and they narrowly lost to No 2 Georgia 3-4 in regular season play and they easily beat Florida 5-2 in regular season so any further progress for Florida will need an upset.
