Week 45 – BJK Cup Playoffs – GB v Sweden – Copper Box, London – Indoor Hard

Katie has two break points. Both well saved, the second with a brilliant drop shot.

*5-6

Katie gets the mini break but hands it back with a shaky double for *3-3.

Stereotypically ice cool serving from the Swede for *4-5, but Katie brings the goods and a big forehand brings up match point at 6-5*

Get in! Well done girl. And I'll be furious if that Swedish girl still has never broken the top 300 in 12 months. She's been brilliant.

So it is Harriet. Makes sense.

Did occur to me that Jodie has never even been a non-playing squad member has she? Not having her as a fifth player in the past so she's at least used to the week and the environment of the days probably another captaining mistake from Anne. No reason she couldn't have been in the squad against France (as we discussed at the time).

Katie confirms thats her for the season - so none of the indoor European 125s for her.

An excellent match from Katie but she came within a mm of losing that 2nd set. Her opponent was serving for the set at 40-0 Katie's shot hit the net bounced straight up and trickled over the net, another mm lower and that would have fallen back. A DF then from her opponent and Katie was solid from them on.

But if Harriet loses(hope she doesn't but I last saw her play in Glasgow and she wasn't back to her old self TBH) then the doubles will become a live match and she play again with Heather?

Well done Katie B.
Persson showing up again today.
Im not surprised that they have gone with Harriet and I think she should be comfortable today as her and Hennerman are very similar in styles and normally to beat Harriett you need to have weapons which hennerman doesnt have.
Harriett in 2 as she is far more experienced.

Does get it and moves to 5-3*

Can't get a first serve in and finds herself down *15-40. Saves one but not the next.

The Swede has cut out the forehand errors in the last couple of games.

5-5*

And as soon as the Swede hits the front, she starts making mistakes again.

*6-5

At *5-4 the Swede opened the game by just clipping the line with a forehand. This time, she just misses.

*40-15 Harriet winds up the forehand but nets but a return errors gives her the set.

7-5 0-0*

Moving forward for Harriet, you would think strength building would be key for her as she doesnt have any weight of shot.
Great athlete, but she is always going to be on the defensive against the better players.

Well done, never looked in any real difficulty even if it wasn't brilliant.

Qualifiers secured.

Well done girls.
When do we find out who they play next?
Maybe Emma will be back before the next tie.

Harriet is off to Japan at 6am tomorrow, so not much time to relax.
