Well done to Emily Appleton - got the win in three

Emily is a bit of an enigma. Talented player, but really struggled in seniors, however this season something is just starting to click.

That said, her points for winning Loughborough last year will come off soon so her ranking will take a big hit.

Freya got a good win over Katy Dunne

So nice to see Freya actually hitting through the ball properly; she seems a lot more clear in what she's trying to do out there.

Jeez Katy what happened in that 1st set? Did you miss lunch and fancied a bagel?

Mika is in the doubles draw so presumably she has a main draw wildcard - another youngster going to really make her mark in adults?

OK, so if the Billie Jean Juniors Cup is in two weeks time, does it seem a bit weird that none of the three-member team are playing doubles together?

Hannah is with Isa (some might say, why is she playing doubles in the first place? After all the exploits and effort last week)

Mimi is not playing at all

And Hep is playing with Mika who, unless things have changed, is not in the team at all

Disappointed Mimi is not playing doubles

Ill update with rankings later

L16:- Kajsa Rinaldo Persson (SWE) / Anna Siskova (CZE) v Katarina Stresnakova (SVK) / Emily Webley-Smith (GBR)

L16:- Estelle Cascino (FRA) / Suzan Lamens (NED) [3] v Viktoria Morvayova (SVK) / Radka Zelnickova (SVK)
L16:- Madeleine Brooks (GBR) / Holly Hutchinson (GBR) v Emily Appleton (GBR) / Samantha Murray Sharan (GBR)

L16:- Elena Malygina (EST) / Adrienn Nagy (HUN) v Mariam Bolkvadze (GEO) / Yuriko Lily Miyazaki (GBR)
L16:- Hannah Klugman (GBR) / Isabelle Lacy (GBR) v Nigina Abduraimova (UZB) / Jasmijn Gimbrere (NED) [4]

The ITF doesn't show the wildcards, but I'm presuming the juniors have got them.

I thought someone said Maia had withdrawn?

Yes, absolutely, if she's there, you'd think that's a surefire wildcard (am expecting Ewen to get one too)

Katys form has really dipped over the last few weeks. Watched a little of todays match and her serve didnt look like it had anything on it. Hope her shoulder is not playing up again

Maia withdrew from qualifying shortly before the sign in deadline.

WCs are Hep/Mika, Emily/Sam and Hannah/Isa

It's a bit of a palava, but you get the doubles WCs on the ITF by clicking on print on the doubles draw page

Thanks - I'll remember that for next time.

I put the rankings in, but they have disappeared so I'll try again.
