Brutally close for Em and Kat. Gutted

I really thought they were going to win the match - they were playing so well as a pair. But at the end it seemed that their opponents were trying to keep Em out of the match. Some great rallies with plenty of variety of shot in this match.

Marni had the trainer on twice in her match and at the end of the match her coach was carrying her rackets . She appears to have a lower back or hip injury

I don't think Gadecki is anything to be afraid of I think Hannah has a really good chance of beating her.

Freya and Olivia have been given a walkover into the SF - can Olivia make it five titles ?

Lord above.....that girl's lower back is made of eggshells.... cry

Meanwhile, it looks like Freya & Gadecki have got a walkover in the doubles

Thanks for the detailed explanation Matt, and good luck to Mimi for this week and the rest of the season. If its ok to ask, will Mimi focus on ITF play for the rest of 2023 or does she plan to play the big US junior events and push for a junior top 10 season end?

This is the next minefield as you have some incentives depending how high you finish the year in Juniors so you have to decide wether to go for that or try and get more matches/experience on the Women's Tour. It's looking very likely that she will play a couple of Women's events between getting back from the Junior BJKC event and the end of the year. She also has one exemption from her ITF ranking last year into a MD of a $25k so that could come handy (and more importantly not use one of those WCs). That exemption needs to be used by end of the year unlike the other rules where it's birthday...they don't make it easy!

Indeed bet365 are only offering 7/4 against Hannah taking out the #1 seed. Gadecki is 2/5.

I think you have raised a bigger issue here CD. Offering odds on a minor - personally, I don't agree with that. If you follow Jodie B on Instagram and check some of the vile and vicious comments from punters when she lost a recent match I think like me people would be horrified. Judy Murray has called this out and rightly so. At least Hannah's profile is closed and protected.

er, this is not me, Var.

ADD: Indy was only putting the odds to back up the general feeling that the match is not as one-sided as the rankings would have you believe.

Just looked up Hannah's instagram and in fact it now appears to be open, which I'm not sure is well advised.

Mimi Xu down an early break but has since steadied herself. Knutson still ahead but also mildly frustrated about some of the errors from her forehand. 2-3* is the score.

Potential opportunity for Xu to break. Knutson is not getting enough first serves in. Shouts of 'take your time' coming from Knutson's coach/boyfriend.

I thought Mimi started very tight. Rather a lot of UEs. Just looked tight.

And then, being a break down, she went for the ball a bit more and started to play a little more like normal

Now receiving for the set

5-4*
