There is a guy on twitter mouthing he hopes it is career ending and swearing at Dan (seems he bet on Tiafoe).

How long does a calf injury take to heal - Davis Cup in mind...

These people truly are horrible. The comments some of the female players get in particular are disgusting, another problem the gambling industry needs to sort out.

I'm confused - the guy should be grateful to Dan

If he'd bet on Tiafoe, and Dan carried on and won, he'd have lost his money

But with Dan retiring the guy gets his money back

What's his issue? What am I missing?

Not sure it was on the Jose Morgado feed and I think its been removed now so cant see what he actually said but it was vile

Yes, you said that but why would it be vile if you say he was betting on Tiafoe? That was my question, I'm obviously missing something

BBC article says there was a pop sound. Ruptured achilles tendon would explain that. That's months if the case. Probably 12months. Hope I'm wrong.

Thats terrible, hope not. Dan isnt young anymore and was probably entering the last 2 or 3 years of his career, I hope this doesnt actually end up career limiting at his age as it feels like he is still near his prime.

Ouch. 12 months since I did mine and still scar tissue around the recovery area.  Dan will undoubtedly have better rehab support and being younger and fitter will help too. But it is a long and hard road.

Let's hope the diagnosis is less severe.

Not a torn achilles, according to Stu Fraser in today's Times.

Yeah I just watched the replay not having seen it and he was clutching upper calf muscle so it isn't achilles tendon lower down I don't think, perhaps a tear in the calf in this area. Added to that if the achilles had gone, not sure he'd be able to stand at all and would be in more distress I would think. He did gingerly hobble off. Still looks like curtains for the DC, real shame.

 That's a huge relief.
