RE: Week 42 - ITF W100 Shrewsbury, Great Britain Hard

Think the ranking points from this might push Hannah into the top 1000?

She was pretty close anyway and has just picked up 6pts.

I expected her to win that match having watched a bit of Ozgen yesterday, who was pretty poor.

13pts if she wins her main draw match.

If she draws a non seed or a player out of form she will have a decent chance. I'd say Hannah is playing top 300 tennis at the moment.

The live rankings list has Hannah at WTA 978

The main draw will be interesting - quite a lot of luck of the draw, obviously

I've had Hannah at about WTA 400 for the last few months but she's obviously improving very fast and has so few adult tournaments that it's difficult to tell - WTA 300 may well be right

The most important thing, I feel, is that - hopefully - the US Open retirement, and Israel withdrawal, doesn't seem to be anything too serious

Not a bad effort from Barnes. Perhaps it's just the viewing angle, but she seems a bit more lithe compared to when I saw her play a couple of years back. She's come close to a ranking point in recent months, with many wins now in ITF qualifying, so it can't be far off.

Hannah is now warming up in her match.

Kat has 2 counters - 4pts here and in a 25k, so one more counter will get her a ranking.

Kat is number 32 in the Alts list for Glasgow next week so a WC there should give her a chance to get over the line.

I like seeing Marni with Sam

There's always something nice (and useful) about 'older' players playing with the younger ones....

I suspect they train together at Bolton

Interesting draw

Lovely to see both Fran and Katie Swan there

Hannah K gets a fellow qualifier

Poor Isa Lacy gets the top seed

Isa has already beaten Golubic in the summer

Certainly not the worst draw ever for the British contingent.

Couldn't ha e got better draws for the GB ladies.

Hannah K should get through that match and the next round is not too bad either. Fran has a nice draw. Isabelle Lacey despite drawing the top seed knows she has beaten her before.

Yes, Knutson and Gadecki seem to be on very good form

Palickova is pretty high quality too

And Dodin, of course, on form, can be a real handful

So glad our players have avoided them

I was really hoping Hannah wouldn't draw another Brit in round 1 so very happy to see she's avoided that and has another qualifier. Katy v Marnie isn't so bad as it guarantees one WC in round 2. I really hope both Fran and Katie Swan have some success this week. Looking forward to it.

The second half of the draw is stacked with Brits. That makes it a tough draw for those players, is that the case?

Yes. I don't expect Isa to win here, though

She's been out for a while, Golubic has been on fine form, different surface

But it would be lovely if she did.....smile

Only half the R1 matches being played today

And we've got the chance for a really good day

One guaranteed GB win (Lily v Em App)

And Fran and Hannah should be favourites.

With Katie Swan maybe too (although a lot harder)

(assuming both Fran and Katie are injury-free)

And Anna Brogan too - her opponent is 34 and has only been playing 25k level recently, and not too successfully at that....
