Extremely pleased for Alice - I've always had a soft spot for her
Imogen's was the only loss that was really a 'what if' moment........hers was the match that hurt.
Although Ranah's was the next closest and was also a shame - she really had the ability to win the match (unlike Eliz and Hep, say, who were both outclassed, although they put up good showings).
Not a bad effort from Barnes. Perhaps it's just the viewing angle, but she seems a bit more lithe compared to when I saw her play a couple of years back. She's come close to a ranking point in recent months, with many wins now in ITF qualifying, so it can't be far off.
Although the camera is placed down the central service line and Hannah has just served a ball down the T that was about 4 inches out - and it was called in
Barnes seems very good at hitting corner to corner and used it to great effect in the 2nd but she clearly had a problem in the 2nd half of the final set when she collapsed on the floor several times and lost her service twice.
Three is better than predicted and only Eliz a slightly surprising defeat.
Yes a disappointing defeat for Eliz who is on a bit of a losing streak. Loss yesterday was against her doubles partner. She needs points in October and November or will suffer a significant drop.
Hannah has super focus, really keeps her mind on what she's trying to do, and seems to relish the struggle
You can see her 'learning' during the match too - sliced passing shots that would be fine in juniors just never going to work against Ozgen so after two or three of those she changes it up

Hannah is now warming up in her match.
Kat has 2 counters - 4pts here and in a 25k, so one more counter will get her a ranking.
