Hannah K was excellent. Big serve, strong on both sides and doesn't make many unforced errors. It will be a decent player to stop her this week.

Imagen has a decent serve and forehand, but needs to improve on the backhand.

Hep is all over the place against a very poor Ozgen.

I always think that one of Hep's problems is that she plays like a taller player

I think, in her mind's eye, she's 5ft 10 . But actually she's only about 5ft 5 or whatever.

She hits several shots (like that short crosscourt backhand she keeps missing) that really don't work, and can't work, given the angle and the height that she's hitting it from

As soon as she gets to grip with this, she'll be fine

It was an odd match. In the 1st set Emma L won more points on 1st serve, a lot more on 2nd serve got far more break points but lost the set. Imogen seemed to be in charge in the 2nd set got two match points but couldn't quite get over the line. I bet Imogen never double faults on match point again, whatever you do get the ball in play, your opponent is under more stress than you are. Emma got a break in the third and ran away with the match.

Yes, a real shame for Imogen. You sensed that, having lost the second set, Emma's experience would tell.

But she's about to go off to US college, I believe. And I think that will do her the power of good. I was really impressed by her forehand and fitness, and general technique. It was a real shame that she never, not ever, followed her balls in, or even bluffed Emma by taking (or feinting to take) the ball out of the air sometimes - i.e. she might not be very good at it but it made life very easy for Emma, she knew she could lift the ball with no risk

I think she'll learn a little more game technique at college (and she'll learn how to not double fault on match point )

Alice has been having some good results and has a very solid defense making her tricky to beat.

Alice had a match point, serving for the match
And froze, backed off from the easy volley, put the little shot off her feet out, and now it's 5 all

Three is better than predicted and only Eliz a slightly surprising defeat.

Good win for Alice having failed to serve it out in straight sets, especially with the ranking difference.
Very close between Holly and Gina with Gina winning 4/6 breaks against 3/10 for Holly.
