Week 42 - ITF W100 Shrewsbury, Great Britain Hard

Marni is definitely playing at a higher level than I have seen before. Waltert's first serve dominated in the 1st set but once Marni started making good returns on those there was nothing Waltert could do to contain her and Marni just ran away with it.

A really topsy-turvy set

Hannah had a set point. She only missed it by a fraction. But Dodin had really managed to sort herself out and was relentless in the pressure.

Hannah's first serve % is only 58% - it's been in the upper 70s in other games and never as low as this

It's obviously partly to do with the pressure that Océane is putting on her but she needs to think about it

TEN aces in the set, and no DF's. Wow !

How should you finish off a set, according to Hannah you merely serve four aces!

This is more like a a mens match, where first serves dominate.

What an impressive match. Hannah laid out some excellent tennis there - and there were just a couple of things (the defensive backhand, for instance) that need work.
Mega performances this week but Océane deserved this one

Saw a bit of the match. Dodin is patchy, but when she is on it, she destroys players.
That's what happened halfway through the first set.

Hannah's levels were really good and to take a set of a player, who will almost certainly get back into the top 100 is some accolade at her age.

This is only her 4th non-junior tournament, extraordinary ability to learn from match to match and set to set.
