L'Équipe reports that from 2025 several ATP 250 tournament licences will be either discontinued (Estoril, Mallorca) or acquired by other 250s to form new ATP 500 events: Doha (at the expense of Newport), Munich (Lyon), Dallas (Atlanta).
Confirmed that Newport on grass and Atlanta on hard are gone, and Dallas is now a 500 event. Between Wimbledon and US Open, just 4 hardcourts events after next season (the last for Newport and Atlanta) in Washington , Canada, Cinci and Winston Salem. The two masters events are moving to 10 day events
Sort of linked - a few stories like this from journos flying around along lines of:
- slams will acquire the masters series events plus add one in Saudi and create a new super tour (14 events) with atp and WTA running the 500/250 level as a second tier
- ATP merging with WTA and creating an F1 style circuit of tournies , with slams outside.
