Week 41 - WTA125 - Rouen, France Hard

Maia's win today will be enough to keep her ahead of Lissey and Liv unless they win the title and Maia doesn't reach the final. And if Maia does reach the final she will overtake Naiktha as GB #1

Very much a cat and mouse fight for those top spots this past few months ! Makes it interesting to follow for us lay men!

Bit of a blip in the first set, but got better as the match progressed.

Into the SFs, and Naiktha, Maia and Lissey still each have a chance of being GB #1 on Monday.

one more win for Maia will take her over Naiktha, then?

Yes, and out of Lissey and Olivia's reach.

SF:- Maia Lumsden (GBR) / Jessika Ponchet (FRA) CR277 (94+183) v Anna Bolsova (ESP) / Natela Dzalamidze (GEO) CR205 (105+100) [4]

First match on tomorrow, followed by Jodie v Andreeva and the other three singles QF.
Lissey and Liv get a day off so presumably will play on Saturday along with the singles semis, with both finals on Sunday.

Good to see them come through the tiebreak.

Wasn't expecting this scoreline

SF:- Maia Lumsden (GBR) / Jessika Ponchet (FRA) CR277 (94+183) def Anna Bolsova (ESP) / Natela Dzalamidze (GEO) CR205 (105+100) [4] 6-2 6-0  biggrin

Live rankings show Maia on 1004 points, Naiktha on 973, Lissey on 882, Liv on 869 and Heather on 861 (the last three still to play, only Heather today)

So maia will be top after this weekend?

are she and Naiktha following different schedules for the next few weeks as well, ie someone mentioned Naiktha was playing down in Australia ?

I commented that Naiktha was down for two ITF events in Australia but withdrew from them both. I assume she is still injured.
Maia will be top unless Lissey and Liv win the title, in which case Lissey will be #1 with all three very close on points.
