Interesting to see who gets the MDWC for Glasgow women.
Heather Watson took one last year.
Marni Banks must be due one if she doesn't get a SE and then the two Scots Maia and Anna stand a big chance. You also have the young guns - Hannah K, Mimi and Isa.
Qualis will be loaded.

The men's on the other hand is quite weak. A few of the GB players from Edgaston have moved overseas and Jacob Fearnley has an SE.
Connor Thomson is almost certain to get a MD wildcard alongside Henry Searle.

From the tournament website
The possible opponents of the Styrian Filip Misolic and the Lower Austrian Jurij Rodionov (picture), on the other hand, were still in action on Friday evening at the ATP 250 tournaments in Antwerp and Stockholm. It depended on the outcome of these matches who the two local heroes would actually meet in the opening round.

Ok, cool. Machac is on court now, winning, but Varillas lost today so guess he needs to decide if hes travelling over or not?

FWIW , this weeks events in Glasgow have the title Scottish Open Championships attached to them. That feels like there should be some history of past official Scottish Opens and provides a little reverence to proceedings!

Appears there isnt a history of a Scottish Open- there was a very famous Scottish Championships played on the Craiglockhart grass courts each summer (famous for a Mcenroe versus Connors final one year) and this event in Glasgow next week seems to be the successor to events like the various past ITF Futures events , but Scottish Open isnt a thing, at least wiki (I know) dont record it as such.

interestingly , I found in searching that Edinburgh hosted the WTA World Doubles Cup for 3 years in the mid to late 90s , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTA_Doubles_Championships , I wonder what the venue was for that - it looks like it was prestigious in the WTA Tour at the time - it was played on clay when in Edinburgh so perhaps that was Craiglockhart also ?

Yes, Scotland has a good habit of supporting tennis Scotland

So Hamish is probably in as of right (he's currently three out) but will certainly get a WC if not

Ewan Moore and Ewan Lumsden are likely candidates

And Charlie Robertson and Henry Jefferson are the two most likely Scottish youngsters (both on the entry list)

Agree about Anna and Maia. Ellie Blackford won the Glasgow Tour event a couple of weeks ago so I'm sort of expecting to see her in qualis (but probably not the main draw, unless there was some arrangement)

Hannah Read would have been my youngster pick, but seems she's playing the J200 in Hungary.

Hep Oluwadare is always mentioned by Tennis Scotland (coz of being at Stirling) so she might be a WC candidate

ADD: Lambda has just posted that Ali and Maia have entered the Scottish doubles competition so that boosts Maia here (and possible Ewen?)

Luke Johnson and Julian Cash both play in Brest, Julian is with Bhambri again.

Billy H and Josh Paris are both in the Ortisei doubles fields. Josh is with Cukierman.

Katie Swan has withdrawn from Glasgow today. Perhaps not a surprise following her obvious discomfort last week.

That moves Mimi into qualifying. Emma Wilson, Abigail Amos and Hannah Klugman moved into qualifying from earlier withdrawals.

Two empty slots in qualis in Glasgow which always really annoys me......furious

Isabelle Lacy is not there, nor Mimi, nor Hannah - which would suggest MD wildcards (although Hannah might be sitting in out if she's a bit tired or whatever)

And Anna Brogan would seemingly be in the main draw with a wildcard too, or just possibly as of right

Wonder if Kat Barnes might have got one..... seems strange she's not in the quali draw otherwise
