like the events with finals on a mid week day that have been taking place, these 10 day masters events leave me finding it hard to pinpoint where I am in the event and, being frank, feel like a slow buildup.
Not sure I am a fan of either of those two approaches, mid week finals or 10 day events outside of slams.
Little generally surprises me re Andy. He's at heart such a competitor and loves to prove himself.
But lately, for the first time really ( other than when he himself previously thought it was over ) with it just not happening, I sense a possible closure time. That next year might be his last year ...
It's clear how much he loves the sport but is increasingly frustrated he isn't competitive at the level he wants to be. I think he'd still like one more ATP title or a second week run in a slam but my best guess is he'll call it a day if he believes it's now beyond him.
There was some talk years ago that he'd do a bit of dubs with Jamie once his singles career was over. I wonder whether that would still be on the cards with him being a family man now.
