Positive aggression from Katie to take the last 2 games of that set 6-4

Katie broke for *2-1 second set and then just went totally off the boil. Some really dismal errors. Into a third we go.

6-4 3-6 *0-0

The ballooned forehand off a second serve at 30-30* in the last game of that set was criminal, and she made multiple poor errors at deuce before Frech took her fifth set point.

That period to *5-1 was pretty much perfect tennis.

Major wobble serving for it though. Match goes on.

5-2*

But recovers nicely to win 6-4 3-6 6-2.

A very useful win. When it was good it was very good.

Great third set to take the match, and her 5th top 100 win this year. Really taking advantage of draws when they pop up - the lucky draw comments i understand, but many in the 50-100 range dont consistently take them.

Well done, Katie !

95 ranking points so far. Would be just a further 55 points for taking care of Sabalenka.

I have watched Frech on three occasions now and she always seems to be singularly lacking in enterprise.

Boulter a deserved winner based on sets 1 and 3. Less said about set 2 the better.

Katie looks every inch a top 60 player, very impressive season. Shes had some luck with draws but at the same time has beaten some tough opponents regardless of rankings.

Katie playing very well here but not making it count. Led 5-3 *30-15 and broken, then missed *8* break points at 5-5* (to be fair she had a play on maybe 3 of those, and only one was a poor forehand error).

5-7 0-0*

Sabalenka holds after 5 deuces (one break point for Katie is well saved), but Katie responds with a hold to 30.

4-4*

Katie breaks to 30 but can't serve it out. Anything hard into the feet on the backside side from the Sabalenka return she can't cope with.

5-5*

Katie loses 7-5 7-6(2)

Great effort but she had real chances. Sabalenka was not at her best but was generally very clutch under pressure.

Very good effort from Katie. The stats show just how close the match was. But Sabalenka came up with big serves when needed and won the key points.
