Week 39 - ITF M25 - Sabadell, Spain (clay)

Felix Gill should be in the main draw here, but there are no Brits in qualies, which was disappointing, as I'd have loved one of them to come up against a 19-year-old Swiss who rejoices in the name of Sam Kydd Baumgartner.  I doubt many, if any, on here will be old enough to remember it, but the sight of the first two parts of the name took me back to the 60s & an ITV series set in Casablanca & starring Patrick Allen, Crane.  The character actor, Sam Kydd, who seemed to pop up all over the place in those days, played a character called Orlando O'Connor, an ex-Legionnaire & smuggler, who became Crane's confidant.

Off topic, but more to do with tennis & something I've been meaning to query for the last two weeks or so, does anyone know why certain Futures events are now dubbed "coaching trials"?

Haha cant comment on Sam Kydd , means nothing to me! Re coaching trials , are they events where on Court coaching is being trialled in the mens game?

This is where I start to get excited again until somebody reminds me that he has a chunk of points coming off.

He's got 17 to come off until the end of the year and 16 of those next week. But he's also got four non-counters so there's definitely scope to beat his points total if he has a really good run.

Those 16 points make a big difference - hope he can cover those this week.
