QWC Tom Paris looks a million light years out of his depth and must have been on an incredible voyage(r) to get here.  Although I'm confident for Billy, if they play several matches, I reckon Billy beats him 7 of 9 times.

And if you're not a SciFi junkie, you won't have the faintest idea what I am babbling on about smile

Perhaps if I had added a tennis related 'Borg' pun as well ?  Nah.  Will explain a bit later. wink

Julian is playing with Robert Galloway in the ATP 250 in Chengdu. Im not sure if the ATP have forgotten about these tournaments as they seem to be not available on the ATP site or on their app.

Edit: It seems the tournaments are running from this Wednesday to the following Tuesday (presumably qualifying starts on Monday).

OK.  So for the benefit of SC, and anyone else who is bored on a Saturday night, here goes.

Tom Paris is a lead character in one of the latest iterations of the Star Trek series - Star Trek Voyager. In this series, the ship called 'Voyager' gets thrown 'millions of light years' across the galaxy.  And for good measure, one of the other characters is called simply '7 of 9', having been rescued from ...... the 'Borg'.

I have always been convinced that Bjorn Borg was an influence in the creation of the 'Borg' character. Their species was laser focused, shows no emotion and was impossible to distract from their task.  There is also a clear hint in one of the films from the 'Next Generation' iteration (Patrick Stewart - Jean-Luc Picard etc).  In the film 'First Contact', the Enterprise travels back to the 22nd century and Picard explains to a woman from that century that the world is under attack from a species of cybernetic robots called 'The Borg'.  She responds - 'Sounds Swedish'.  Coincidence ?  I don't think so.

Anyway, enough drivel from me. Back to the tennis.

Horrible draw for Liam.

Cheers, Bob.  I don't feel as though I've missed out on much, if anything.  That said, I used to enjoy watching Babylon 5 & Farscape & I've seen all but the most recent Star Wars films...  wink

Thanks.  The draws aren't available on the tournament web site, either.  First round of qualies will be played on Tuesday & the singles main draw & doubles draw made on Wednesday.

I read Julian and Henry had split after the us open, is that correct, someone quoted Henry as saying the pairing had come to an end. Or am I getting that wrong ?
