Boys & Girls: 2023 US Open (week 36)

Inexplicably, Henry is standing so far back to return the serve especially the American's second serve which is pretty average. Not really getting any purchase on the return game.

He's out. Not a good day in the office but it's all learning and let's face it, he's surely exceeded his goals for this year already!

It's really a horrible match at times, with both players making lots of UE but mostly Henry. Svajda is doing some awful hoofing balls up in the air on Henry's serve which is flummoxing him somewhat. It's dreadfully hot and I think it's affecting both of them. Henry's timing really seems to be affected and he's struggling more to hold his serve than his opponent in this final set, with Henry not really getting any points in his opponent's serve.

Whoever wins will certainly have won ugly.  Lets hope its Henry and he can pick up for round 3

 Sadly not

Boys R2

(WC) Trever Svajda (USA) d. (4) Henry Searle 7-5 4-6 6-4

Mika's doubles has started well - up 5-1 against the third seeds, but Hannah is still waiting to get on court

Hannah broke in the first game, and games have gone with serve since, with Hannah leading 4*-3

Nicely done.

And I make it that will be an extra 90 points for Hannah

That was a mentally exhausting match and she looked thoroughly depleted after. Especially after a doubles match in the heat here. Great fight, good battling, and dealt with some of the mind games of her opponent well.

She certainly dealt with the mind games well. Good to see her learning that early on in her career. Very efficiently done.

Even in the nicest family way, I reckon a girl with three older sisters has a fair bit of experience of mind games
