SF:- Holly Hutchinson (GBR) / Tenika Mcgiffin (AUS) CR1301 (364+937) [2] lost to Ava Markham (USA) / Fangran Tian (CHN) CR1362 (509+853) [3] 2-6 6-2 9-11
I'm not 100% certain, but I think that as they had a bye and then a walkover they may only get QF points rather than SF points. The rulebook isn't the clearest,
Ha, I was wondering how that was going to work. So that MTB may prove to be the difference between 9 points and at least 30 points.
I think it is worse then that and they get 1st round loser points. When the rulebook references points in the preceding round, it's the points they had in the proceeding round rather than the points awarded for reaching the round by playing and winning a match. As they got a bye in the 1st round they still have 1st round loser points in the QF. Effectively until the player/team has played and won a match they have 1st round loser points irrespective of how many byes and walkovers they get.
In Porto 25K doubles in July 2018, Tara got a bye then a wo and lost the SF and got 1 point.
Thanks Lambda for your response. I wasn't really certain what the rulebook was saying, but took it to mean something slightly different. I should mention that I was looking at the ITF rulebook rather than the WTA rulebook, although they should have the same rules.
The ITF paragraph that I was looking at is:-
"If a player or team receives a walkover in the 1st round, and there is no Alternate or Lucky Loser to take the place in the draw, or if a player or team receives a walkover in a subsequent round without having yet played a match, the player or team will receive ranking points from the round preceding her/their elimination."
Though for Holly, 1 or 9 points makes no practical difference in the short term ( and hopefully the longer term too ) since her lowest counter was already 9 points.
The 3 titles together improve Beth's doubles ranking from WR 264 to live ranked 201 (.her current official ranking at 28/08, counting the first one, is WR 235 ). She has a CH 143 from 2019.
Hmm, re earlier discussions, in the latest WTA rankings Holly has been awarded 18 doubles ranking points, ie. full SF points for her bye / walkover / lose err run.

Don't think any of us were anticipating that
Certainly not ! Nice bonus to go with the $180 prize money. Holly is now leel with Maddy at WR342/343 on 224 points. And Beth is at WR203.
